This last decade, Lady Gaga seemed to take the entire world by storm. Not only was she a chart-topper fairly young in her career, but she even managed to spin all of Hollywood upside down with her Academy Award-winning performance in the remake of the musical/drama A Star is Born. And thanks to her insane chemistry with co-star Bradley Cooper, rumors have been sparking about her love life and who she actually dates.
But what about the Cooper rumor?
We have to ask ourselves, is he good enough for her? And, speaking of it, what other men has she been rumored to be with, and who she ACTUALLY dated – and who were/are simply just good friends.
Here are 10 people who got the stamp of approval in Gaga’s world, and 10 who are simply in the friend zone.
20 Good Enough: Bradley Cooper
We first suspected it when we saw their blatant chemistry onscreen with A Star is Born and then suspected it when we saw their steamy and lovey-dovey performance at the Academy Awards. From that moment on, EVERYONE has been wondering if Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper are an item. It didn’t help that they split with their partners shortly after the performance.
19 But Also Not Good Enough: Bradley Cooper, Again
Everyone in Bradley Cooper’s orbit has stated that he’s a womanizer (some former girlfriends have even said the was mean at times) so do we really WANT Lady Gaga to be in a relationship with him? And also, Gaga herself said that they were believable as a couple because that’s what the plan was – to make people believe they were in a relationship.
18 Good Enough: Dan Horton
For a brief time, the press relentlessly followed around Lady Gaga and audio engineer Dan Horton after spying them kissing during a brunch date. Gaga reportedly had been separated from Christian Carino (who she was dating during all the Bradley Cooper hoola) for six months before the rumors started flying about her and Horton.
17 Just Friends: Ryan Murphy
While they may look completely and utterly adorable together, producer/showrunner/director Ryan Murphy and Lady Gaga are just good friends. It’s not that he isn’t good enough for her, it’s that, well, she’s not really his type (he’s gay and married to David Miller). The two are extremely close and have called each other their “creative soulmates.”
16 Good Enough: Luc Carl
Luc Carl has to be one of the most significant relationships in Lady Gaga’s life – they dated for six years and she still is very close with him (a lot of her songs are based on their relationship). So, if they love each other so much still, why did they split? Her intense schedule forced them apart, which is a huge shame.
15 Friend-Zoned: Blake Shelton
We always joke that everyone in the music industry basically, well, knows everyone else in the music industry. And while we laugh about it, we see that it IS true some of the times – especially during award shows. Lady Gaga IS friends with country singer and The Voice judge Blake Shelton, but that’s it. However, we have to laugh at ex-wife Miranda Lambert's face here.
14 Good Enough: Matthew Michael
Gaga dated Matthew Michael Williams, who actually designed the clothes for Lady Gaga’s live performances and was the “original creative director for Haus of Gaga”. Matthew used to be a DJ who Gaga met early on in her career. “He’s the inspiration of the beginning of my fashion,” Gaga lovingly once said of her ex.
13 Strictly Buddies: Justin Timberlake
They made comedy MAGIC when both starred together on Saturday Night Live back in 2011, but that’s really as far as it goes. Why? Well, because not only is Justin married to Jessica Biel, he and Gaga will never cross that line thanks to being good friends. At least, we can always watch their skits over and over again on the internet.
12 Good Enough: Taylor Kinney
While they seemed to have a good relationship (and then later, a good engagement) while they were together, firey words started sparking off after the two of them broke up. The Chicago Fire actor shared a photo on Instagram with hockey player Bryan Bickell and Bickell posted “Stoked you got away from Gaga #Hollyweird” WHICH KINNEY ‘LIKED.’ Yikes.
11 Shut It Down Now: R.Kelly
It seems like a million and six years ago, but remember when Lady Gaga and the highly controversial R. Kelly actually collaborated together? And yes, a collaboration was as far as it went. After the documentary Surviving R. Kelly came out, Gaga took to Twitter to apologize for her 2013 single “Do What U Want (With My Body)” which featured Kelly.
