Last month, TLC announced a new series, 1000-lb Roommates. The reality TV show will follow the lives of best friends and roommates, Jasmine Wallace, who goes by the nickname Jaz, and Nesha, as they struggle to lose weight and change their lives for the better. But a recent episode has highlighted just how challenging this can be, and Jaz has to lose 130 lbs. to qualify for bariatric surgery. Without this life-changing surgery, medical professionals have told her that her future is uncertain.

As Jaz receives the news that without a drastic change in her weight-loss routine, she "won't survive long," Nesha tries to show her support.

Jaz Shares Her Weight Loss Journey With Fans

The most recent episode of 1000-Lb. Roomies aired on Tuesday, June 10. It focused on Jaz's appointment with Dr. Sarvenaz Nouri, who is helping her client set weight-loss goals. Jaz weighs 630 lbs, and she is currently too heavy for bariatric surgery.

"Our goal is to help you to get you to surgery," Dr. Nouri says in the clip, People reports. "For the surgery, I want you to be around 500 lbs. So you do need to lose about 130 lbs before surgery." Upon hearing how much weight she would need to lose before she can have surgery, Jaz feels deflated and questions whether she would be able to lose 130 lbs. "I feel like I can't do it," she confessed. "That's why I'm here."

Nesha informed Dr. Nouri that she weighed 425 lbs. at her last weigh-in. This would qualify her for surgery, but she does not want to opt for the procedure that Jaz is considering. "It's something that I just never saw myself doing," Nesha says. "I don't know, I'm just not for it. But that could be our goal together. If you have to be on a certain diet, I'll be on that diet with you. I got you."

Jaz Gets Support From Nesha

Jaz is overwhelmed by her weight-loss journey, and although she feels like she will not be able to lose the amount of weight needed for surgery, her friend has shown her full support. Upon hearing that Jaz would not have long to live without intervention, Nesha shared how the news is “scary.”

She continued, "I feel like once you hear it from a doctor, it really kind of just makes it that much more real. It hits you. It just hits you like a ton of bricks. And whatever she has to do, I'm in full support."

A clip of the best friends was posted on Instagram this week, offering a glimpse into what audiences can expect to see on the show. People have reacted to the post and remarked on their beautiful friendship. "It's crazy they're so down to earth and they're pretty," a comment reads. "I wanna be friends with them," another person shared. Other reactions include, "They are gorgeous I hope it all works out for them!" "They are hilarious so much personality!" and "I loveeeeeeee them i watched this episode 4 times."
