Amy and Tammy Slaton have documented their lives and weight-loss journeys on TLC’s 1000-lb Sisters for six seasons. When the show began in 2020, the duo lived with Amy’s husband, Michael Halterman, in a duplex in Dixon, Kentucky.

As 1000-lb Sisters progressed, Amy and Michael had two children together, developments that exacerbated Amy’s health problems and goal of having weight-loss surgery. Tammy’s weight-loss efforts resulted in her spending 14 months in a rehabilitation facility. By the time Tammy returned home, it was clear that Amy and Michael’s relationship was at a breaking point.

Season 5 of 1000-lb Sisters made it clear that Amy and Michael’s marriage was plagued with challenges. In September 2023, Amy and Michael parted ways, prompting questions about what the 1000-lb Sisters’ living situation would look like going forward.

Tammy Slaton Met And Married Caleb Willingham While In Rehab, But They Never Lived Together

After 14 months in a rehabilitation facility for weight loss, Tammy Slaton lost 300 pounds. While there, she also gained a husband, Caleb Willingham.

When Tammy left rehab, however, she did so solo. Caleb remained at the facility to continue his weight-loss journey. As a result, Tammy returned to live with her sister, Amy, and her husband, Michael, as well as their two children, Gabe and Glenn.

Why 1000-lb Sisters Star Amy Slaton And Michael Halterman's Relationship Fell Apart

Amy Slaton and Michael Halterman appeared to be Couple Goals when 1000-Lb Sisters first began, but things changed after they became parents.

After Amy Slaton And Michael Halterman Split In 2023, She Kept Their Former Home

After Amy Slaton's husband, Michael Halterman, filed for divorce in 2023, she remained in their home. She did move out briefly, taking up residence in a house owned by her half-sister, Amanda, but later returned to the house in in Morganfield, Kentucky.

Amy had purchased the house for Michael and their two children, Gage and Glenn, to live in together. Amy decided it was time for her and her family to move out of the duplex because she wanted her children to have their own rooms.

Owning the house ended up being bittersweet, however. Amy admitted during season 6 of 1000-lb Sisters that it was difficult to still live in what had once been their home:

I want to get rid of these couches because they remind me of Michael.

Amy hopes to make new memories in the house, especially when she has her children with her. Her half-sister Amanda was encouraging, telling Amy that she didn't give herself enough credit and was up to the task. Amy and Michael split custody of their sons, with Amy caring for them 70% of the time. This agreement came a bitter divorce and an ugly custody battle.

As for the duplex where the Slaton sisters once lived, that residence has fallen into a state of disrepair.

Tammy Slaton Moved Into A House Owned By Her Brother, Chris Combs

Tammy and Amy's brother, Chris Combs, renovated a house that he owned, so Tammy could move in. The move reportedly came on the heels of a fight with her half-sister, Amanda, who had been renting Tammy a home. Tammy lived with Chris briefly.

When Chris first showed Tammy the house, he cautioned her to keep an open mind. Renovations were still underway, with exposed floors, clutter, and widespread deterioration at every turn. This prompted concerns from Tammy that the work wouldn't be done in time for her to move in. She did say that she liked the layout and that "it would be a suitable place" for her. Overall, she was,

"Thankful to have a place offered that has a roof and stable foundation."

One feature of the house caused tension between Chris and his wife, Brittany. When she suggested taking out a built-in bar area because "it's set up dumb where you can't see it," Chris immediately rejected the idea. Tammy, for her part, said,

"I just don’t want them to fight because of it, because they’re doing this in such a short time and trying to hurry up."
