Most people know her for her roles in ''Just Friends,'' ''Scary Movie'' and ''The House Bunny,'' but there are many things people do not know about Anna Faris herself. They know the basics: she's funny, married to Chris Pratt, and let's not forget the obvious: she's gorgeous. But a lot remains unknown about this blonde-haired queen of comedy. Like, for instance, the fact that she couldn't get a date back in high school. Hard to believe, right!? From her nerdy high school days to her strange fascination with dead bugs to her ''What's your number?'' answer, here are 15 surprising facts about Anna Faris that many people don't know. If anyone thought they knew everything there was to know about Anna Faris, this article is going to make you think again.

15 She Was Born in Baltimore

Anna Faris wasn’t born in Los Angeles, despite what you may think. She was in fact born in Baltimore, Maryland, on November 29, 1976 (yes, that makes her 40...wow!) to Jack and Karen Faris. Her father was a sociologist who worked at the University of Washington and her mother worked as a special education teacher at Seaview Elementary School in Edmonds – where the family moved to when Faris was 6 years old. She also has an older brother, Robert, who is also a sociologist. Faris said she was raised in a ‘’very conservative atmosphere’’ but she was very much encouraged to act, which is why they enrolled her in a local community drama class when she was a child. But at the time, nobody would have believed she was going to be a comedy actress.

14 She Never Knew She Was Funny

It’s hard to believe that comedy queen, Anna Faris, never considered herself funny before she delved into the comedy genre. In fact, it was more of a drop into comedy than a delve. You see, before she did the Scary Movie, Faris only went for dramas. She never thought she was funny. How bizarre is that? And it seems those around her agreed too because when she called her roommate to break the news about her part in Scary Movie, her roommate replied: "That's so weird that you were cast, because you are not funny." Read it again if you don’t believe what you’re hearing. I think everybody can beg to differ here. Anna Faris is one of the funniest women on the planet and she’s made a good living from her humor.

13 She Was a School Nerd

She may have played the smokin’ hot Playboy model in ‘’The House Bunny,’’ but back when she was in high school, Anna Faris describes herself as a major nerd. Sporting glasses, strange clothing, and weird hairdos, Faris was anything but glamorous in high school. One time she even wore a Christmas tree skirt as a cape. That probably explains why she couldn’t land a date until senior year. Well, things have changed a lot since then and she’s made up for it now because she’s gorgeous, glamorous and certainly smokin’ hot. And she’s definitely upped her fashion game since school days. Then again, most people are a lot different now to what they were in high school....and what a relief that is! Change is good, as I’m sure Anna would agree.

12 Her and Chris Pratt Fell in Love Over Dead Bugs

You wouldn’t believe that these two actors fell in love over bugs, but they did. Here’s what happened: Anna went over to his place, when the two first started dating, and Chris gave her a little tour of his house. That’s when she spotted an African stick bug framed on one of his walls. As soon as she saw it, she started crying because Anna also collected dead bugs and they both knew, at that moment that they were meant for each other. They’ve now combined their dead bug collections. If you go over to their house, you’ll find giant dead bugs all over their walls. It’s not the most romantic story in the world. Still, it’s cute that they have this passion in common – even if it is creepy and a little disgusting.

11 She’s a Natural Blonde

Everybody knows Anna Faris as a blonde but did you know that it’s actually her natural hair color? The only time we’ve seen her with dark hair was when she died her hair black for the role of ‘’Cindy Campbell’’ in Scary Movie (2000) and Scary Movie (2001). Fortunately, she returned to her natural blonde roots. Not that she didn’t look great sporting brunette locks – she did. It’s just that she really does look great as a blonde and it matches her bubbly personality. Anna Faris really does confirm that well known phrase: Blondes have more fun. You see, she can dye her hair any color but everybody knows, at heart, she’s a genuine blonde and she looks damn good sporting platinum blonde locks, doesn’t she?

10 She Regularly Punks Her Mom

You can tell Anna Faris is a comedian in her daily life – and not just in the movies. Especially when you hear that she loves to punk her mom and that she actually does it often. Every couple of months, Anna sends her mom a postcard of a risqué pinup girl bearing a note on the back that says something like: 'Hey mom — trying to make it as an actress in LA — met this great photographer, and he says I’m going to be a star!'" Obviously she’s not being serious. She just does it to make her mom laugh and also to embarrass her when the mailman delivers it to her. Anna Faris must have been quite a handful as a child if she’s still playing pranks like this at forty.

9 She Was Once ‘’Too Funny’’ For a Role

You’ve never imagine that you could be ‘’too funny’’ for an acting role, would you? But apparently, it seems that you can. When Anna Faris auditioned for the role of Claire in ‘’Six Feet Under,’’ the creator, Allan Ball, kept laughing through the audition. Faris wasn’t even trying to be funny but Ball couldn’t hold back the laughter. That’s why the role went to Lauren Ambrose instead. Anna Faris wasn’t the right fit for the role because she was just ‘’too funny.’’ It’s hard for some of these female actresses. They’re either too beautiful, too sexy and now, apparently, too funny for a role. Never mind. Anna Faris didn’t need that role anyway. Just look at some of the awesome movies she’s starred in.

8 She’s a Singer

Anna Faris isn’t just an actress, you know. She’s a singer too. This woman is multi-talented. She can do so many things. In addition to being a successful actress and a natural-born comedian, she’s also talented in the vocals department. That’s right. Faris made several soundtrack appearances in ‘’Just Friends,’’ ‘’Lost in Translation,’’ and ‘’Mama’s Boy,’’ where she sang songs such as ‘’Nobody Does it Better,’’ ‘’Forgiveness’’ and ‘’Old-Fashioned Girl.’’ People who have watched ‘’Just Friends:’’ how can you possibly forget her singing ‘’Forgiveness?’’ Remember, it was when she was on the jet...she was singing it to Ryan Reynolds? There’s no doubt about it, that woman does have a nice voice. She’s not made a big career out of singing or anything but, as you can see, she has sung on several occasions and she seems pretty good at it.

7 Her Son Was Born 9 Weeks Premature

On August 25, 2012, Anna Faris gave birth to her first child, Jack. But it wasn’t the fairytale you’d imagine. He was born nine weeks premature and weighed only three pounds. Her and husband Chris Pratt were told by doctors that there was a chance they would be raising a special-needs child, due to the complications of the premature birth. Fortunately, Jack is not facing limitation, but he does need to undergo surgery to correct his eyes and he does need to wear glasses. It’s always sad and heartbreaking to hear stories like this. But the good news is that things seem to be going well for the family now without too many limitations for young Jack. I’m sure Anna Faris and Chris Pratt are awesome parents.

6 She Once Wore Purple Gloves For a Three Month Period

When she was a child, that is. It didn’t happen recently. Yes, when Anna Faris was around eight years old, she wore purple gloves for a three month period. Why? So she couldn’t leave her fingerprints anywhere and be framed for murder by unknown parties. Now it’s making more and more sense why she thought she was kind of nerdy and strange when she was young. I’ve never heard a kid do anything like this before. Anna Faris is certainly one of a kind, that’s for sure. Even as a child, she couldn't be compared to anybody else. How does a kid think something like that up? Then again, children do tend to have a huge and wild imagination. Maybe Anna Faris took the phrase a little too far.
