When 7th Heaven came to an end in 2007, the chances of a reboot seemed very high. However, seven years later, a scandal rocked the career of Stephen Collins. Fans wondered what happened to the actor, and as it turns out, he sold his home and was out of Hollywood following the disturbing allegations. The last update seemed to have indicated that Collins was living in Iowa, trying to rewrite his wrong his practices like meditation.
The cast of 7th Heaven has kept quiet about the matter. However, his on-screen wife Catherine Hicks did make a few statements in the past. We'll take a look at what she had to say, along with her stance on a possible reboot. Given her recent words with TMZ, it doesn't seem like a reboot is in the cards as Hicks no longer works as an actress. She also made a reveal about Stephen Collins and his current circumstances.
Let's find out what the actress had to say.
Catherine Hicks Changed Her Opinion On The Stephen Collins Matter Through The Years
Playing the role of Annie Camden for 11 seasons, Catherine Hicks had a blast with her castmates on 7th Heaven. However, the mood shifted following the disturbing reveals about Stephen Collins. At one point, Hicks admitted she wanted nothing to do with Collins, and revealed that the only way the show could get a reboot would be with Hicks in a coffin.
However, her tone on the matter changed, and Hicks refuses to give an opinion.
"I have no opinion on Stephen’s culpability or not. We were surprised, but we all love each other. We really, god, worked altogether beautifully, and if they did do a reunion, I’d just be happy to show up and see everyone, Stephen included. It was never an issue on our show."
"It’s just sort of another chapter, I think, to his life, I think, before we started 7th Heaven. Therefore, it’s not a current issue, so being together and resuming our characters would be fine, ’cause the show is based on forgiveness, nonjudgmentalism, humility, all the values that sort of make up a particular brand of faith.”
Her words with Hollywood Life came way back in 2017. In recent times alongside TMZ in 2023, Hicks admitted that the chances of a reboot are no longer there, and that Collins seems to be nonexistent.
Catherine Hicks Turned Down A 7th Reboot And Revealed Nobody Speaks To Stephen Collins
When asked about a 7th Heaven reunion alongside Catherine Hicks, the actress was quick to turn it down. She almost made a reveal that none of the cast is in contact with Collins.
Hicks revealed, "The kids grew up, and Stephen's gone. No, no, let it go. I don't act anymore, I don't have the tears in me. Playing a homemaker I wasn't there for my daughter and now I'm home for my real daughter, because I was never there for when she was little."
Hicks was also asked if 7th Heaven could work with an entirely different cast, and she revealed the only way it could work would be with the original creator, Brenda Hampton, who stated with the show throughout its run on television.
It doesn't seem like Stephen Collins will be making any type of reunion statement. The actor went off the map in 2014, and it appears as though he left Hollywood behind for good.
Stephen Collins Moved Off The Map In 2014 Once The Scandal Leaked To The Public
In 2014, Stephen Collins put his house up for sale, and was sold for $3 million. Collins decided to move away off the map to Iowa. Oddly enough, according to Daily Mail, the actor moved away with a super-fan. The publication indicates that he's still on the recovery road, living a simple life.
"He was spotted taking out the trash with Nagel from their $557,000 home that sits on 1.77 acres and overlooks the scenic Pleasant Lake. The home, which was purchased in August 2017, has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, an office and meditation room," Daily Mail writes.
Collins revealed that he was devoted to his recovery and self-improvement.
"'I have been in extensive therapy for over twenty years, years of 12 Step recovery, personal growth workshops in therapeutic settings, private religious confession and consultation, daily prayers of atonement, and meditation every day. I have been in treatment continuously for over twenty years."
It certainly seems evident that Collins won't be returning to Hollywood, and the chances of a 7th Heaven reboot aren't strong either. Beverly Mitchell was among the cast members interested in a return, but that seems less likely as time passes.
