One of the most amazing parts of the 1980s was the fact that it was able to pack in so many classics in such little time. Each year from that decade has a number of films that have been able to stand the test of time, and they continue to serve as an inspiration to filmmakers looking to make it in the industry. The decade would do a great job of raising the bar and challenging the 90s to be even better.
While there are a number of 80s movies that have been able to remain as fresh and as relevant as ever, there are those that have not aged quite as well. We aren’t saying that these are bad movies. We are simply saying that, when compared to a number of other 80s classics, these films did not age nearly as well.
Today, we are going to take a look at the 80s and some of its most notable films.
20 Worth Watching: The Breakfast Club
There are few movies in history that are as loved as this one is here, and it continues to shine after all these years. It has just about everything a person could want in a film, and its themes of growing up and navigating both home and school life are ones that hit home with millions.
19 Worth Watching: Beetlejuice
Tim Burton struck gold when he created this film here, and it gave people a taste of what was to come from the filmmaker. There are tons of hilarious and quotable moments all throughout, and the performance given by Michael Keaton is what helps make this movie a true classic.
18 Worth Watching: Beverly Hills Cop
This movie is Eddie Murphy at his absolute best, and just about everyone can find enjoyment with this film. It was a nice blend of both action and comedy, and while Murphy does get the bulk of the shine here, the rest of the cast helped bring it all home.
17 Didn’t Age Well: Batman
Batman fans aren’t going to be happy here, but we aren’t wrong. This film was a masterpiece when it came out, and it showed the world what a comic book movie could actually be. Over time, however, it did not age well, and most people won’t enjoy this as much as some other 80s offerings.
16 Worth Watching: The Goonies
This is one of the most beloved and famous movies ever made, and even now, people everywhere remain completely in love with the story and the characters involved. Sure, it gets silly at times, but watching these kids bond together while finding lost treasure is as good as it gets.
15 Worth Watching: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Every kid that saw this movie dreamed of doing something like this at some point, but those that tried weren’t nearly as successful. This movie gave us all the blueprint on how to stay home from school and make the most of it, and it is still a blast to watch.
14 Worth Watching: Fast Times At Ridgemont High
When it comes to movies from the 80s, this is one of the absolute best. It has a little bit of everything, and the characters that are at the forefront of the story are all just like the people we went to school with. And, of course, Phoebe Cates made a statement.
13 Didn’t Age Well: Flash Gordon
The movie Ted helped bring this 80s flick back to the forefront, and the main characters in that film cherished this movie. However, it has not aged well in any way, and it is probably best kept as a nostalgia trip. The theme song by Queen is a legit treat, though.
12 Worth Watching: Lethal Weapon
The casting for this movie could not have been any better, and had two other people been in these roles, then the film just would not have reached the same heights as it did. It was the perfect buddy cop film, and any person interested in the genre needs to watch this masterpiece.
11 Worth Watching: Back To The Future
Many people consider this to be the best movie from the 80s, and while there is a debate to be had about that notion, the fact remains that this film is nothing short of brilliant. It gave way to a trilogy of flicks, but at the end of the day, the first one was the best one.
