Bruce Willis is one of Hollywood's tough guys. The action star is accustomed to battling terrorists and bad guys onscreen, but in real life, he's facing his biggest challenge.
In March 2022, it was announced that Willis was retiring from acting because of a neurological disorder called aphasia. Willis' family gave an update about the actor's health in February 2023 and unfortunately, the news wasn't good. In a statement, the family revealed Willis had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.
It has been a difficult time for the former action star, but he's found a bright light in the midst of darkness.
Bruce Willis Recently Became A Grandfather
Willis' dementia diagnosis has been an emotional time for him and his family. But there was also good news to celebrate.
In December 2022, Rumer Willis, the eldest daughter of Bruce and his ex-wife Demi Moore, announced she was pregnant. As Rumer and her boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas prepared for the little one's arrival, her family was offering support.
In an interview with People in April 2023, Rumer said everyone was excited about the new addition. "My parents are so excited. My sisters are so excited, and it's so fun to be bringing in the first grandchild in our family, especially because we're such a huge group at this point."
Rumer gave birth to her daughter Louetta Isley Thomas Willis on April 18.
Baby Louetta Has Given Bruce Willis New Hope
The arrival of baby Louetta is a joyous occasion in more ways than one for the Willis family. According to OK Magazine, nobody is happier than Bruce.
An anonymous source close to the family says baby Louetta is "an angel from heaven." Upon meeting his granddaughter for the first time, Bruce lit up with joy in what was a beautiful and emotional moment.
Becoming a grandfather has awakened new feelings in Bruce. The source told the mag that he received "a boost of energy" after seeing Louetta. "It's like his granddaughter gave him a reason to fight even harder."
Bruce Willis Has A Huge Support System
Baby Louetta is one more member of the Willis clan, who's helping the actor through his dementia battle. The actor's wife Emma Heming Willis, his ex-wife Moore, and his five daughters have rallied around the beloved star.
While the ladies are putting up a brave front, it's not easy seeing a loved one struggle. Bruce and Moore's youngest daughter Tallulah recently opened up about her dad's dementia diagnosis in a Vogue essay. Tallulah revealed that the Die Hard star still recognizes her and she's cherishing every moment she has with him.
"Every time I go to my dad's house, I take tons of photos, of whatever I see, the state of things. I'm like an archaeologist, searching for treasure in stuff that I never used to pay much attention to I have every voicemail from him saved on a hard drive. I find that I'm trying to document to build a record for the day when he isn't there to remind me of him and us."
As he does in the movies, Willis isn't giving up without a fight. With a huge support system behind him, the actor faces this challenge with everything he has.
