Entourage was a major hit for HBO. Despite the series coming to an end, and a film getting released, there are still rumours pertaining to a possible reboot. As we'll reveal later in the article, even Mark Wahlberg has commented on the possibility of the show starting back up.
However, we'll start off by taking a closer look at Adrian Grenier's relationship with Mark Wahlberg. Although Grenier is living a different life since the show ended, he was in for quite the experience alongside Wahlberg shooting Entourage and that was evident at the start when the two took a trip together.
We're going to reveal what went on during the trip, and why things got a little bumpy between the two during the negotiations for the Entourage film. At the time, Wahlberg made a comment, and it seemed like Adrian Grenier was not pleased. We'll take a look at how it all went down between the two.
Adrian Grenier Had An Unforgettable Experience Meeting Mark Wahlberg For The First Time
Not only did Adrian Grenier land the career changing role of Vincent Chase in Entourage, but he also got to shadow Mark Wahlberg early on in the process. Among his tasks before the show started, included taking a trip with Wahlberg's entourage, and examining their lifestyle.
Adrian said of the experience, “Within moments of me getting the job, me and the guys got on a plane with Mark and his friends and we all went to Vegas together,” Grenier told news.com.au. “So we all got a crash course into that celebrity lifestyle.”
Grenier admitted there was more observing than asking questions about the role.
“I didn’t have many conversations with him (about how he wanted me to portray the role),” Grenier said. “It was more observing, like an animal in the wild."
“I took some binoculars and had a look at the way he operated, and I realized the main key is not to try and be Mark Wahlberg, but more just to get a sense of the power dynamic with him and the world and how people treat him."
“He sort of approaches every situation with confidence and ease, and a sense of authority. So I was more just observing his lifestyle and then borrowing that and adapting it for my character.”
Grenier clearly picked up a thing or two during his time with Wahlberg, and the show thrived for eight seasons. However, things took a bit of a rough patch prior to the film taking place.
Mark Wahlberg Revealed That Certain Cast Members Were Greedy Prior To Signing On For The Entourage Film
Prior to the Entourage film hitting production, Mark Wahlberg was asked why the process was taking so long. Wahlberg was honest with answer, he said, “As soon as them guys stop being so greedy.”
Those comments caused quite the stir, and some felt as though Mark was referring to Adrien Grenier. The actor had to issue a statement of his own, stating that there was no truth to what was being said.
"To all Entourage fans. I owe it to you to make a couple things clear. I take my role as Vince on the show & off very seriously. All decisions I make personally & for business are for the principle of friendship and brotherhood. It has, & never will be about the money for me. I promise."
He continues, "I will always stand up for the boys (that includes you) & do what I can to make sure they are treated fairly, and not be taken advantage of by anybody. The spirit of Entourage is about sharing the opportunities given to us and I will sign any deal that gives ALL the boys an opportunity to share in the upside of success EQUALLY. I assure you, despite the perception, there is no greed in my heart. Remember, it will all work out in the end. It always does. ------ I will try to answer questions with hashtag #entourageboysshare"
Some believe Grenier wanted equal pay for the entire main cast, and that was the reason for prolonged negotiations.
Nonetheless, the film was given the green light, and it was one that the true fans appreciated. It seems like nowadays there isn't any type of resentment as the former cast is open to a reboot, including Mark Wahlberg.
Mark Wahlberg Admitted He Is Interested In A Potential Reboot Of Entourage, And Has The Backing Of The Cast
Jeremy Piven sparked the rumors of a possible Entourage reboot. Speaking alongside TMZ, the actor admitted he's very much open to rebooting the show, but the decision comes down to Mark Wahlberg.
Mark issued a response alongside Page Six, mentioning that he is open to a reboot.
“I don’t know if that’s going to happen but I would definitely support it. I was always sad to see the show end."
Wahlberg would also discuss a possible plotline for the reboot, which would be different to the original.
“It would look like an older group of guys probably doing things more like me, going to church and you know hopefully having families and getting up early and working out. Might not be as exciting as when they were running the night clubs and running all around Vegas.”
Showrunner Doug Ellin confirmed that the entire cast would be onboard, including Adrien Grenier. It remains to be seen if the reboot will air, but at the very least, some of the major pieces are in place.
