With each season of America's Got Talent comes a slew of talented hopefuls looking for their big break. From singers and dancers to magicians and acrobats, the auditions are full of wow moments for the judges and audiences both in the theater and at home.
While many of those wow moments are from the sheer talent of the individuals and groups on stage, some of those moments are emotional wows, and they can certainly pull at the heartstrings. It's inspiring to hear the stories of overcoming obstacles, fighting for everything from survival to your dreams, and finding passion on the other side of pain.
From names like Kodi Lee to Grace VanderWaal, winners of AGT have continued to enjoy success while inspiring fans across the globe. This year's talent is stiff already, and while the auditions are still ongoing, we've got six golden buzzer winners for the 2021 season already; here's a bit on each one.
9 Nightbirde Brought Everyone To Tears
Jane, who sings under the name Nightbirde, brought the audience, judges, and viewers at home to tears with the song she sang on the AGT stage. An original, titled "It's OK," spoke of her journey with cancer and how she's okay - even if she's not okay in every way.
After she sang, she made a statement that touched the judges, especially Simon Cowell who presented her with the Golden Buzzer, a quote that's been shared on social media countless times since her episode aired.
"You can't wait until life isn't hard anymore before you decide to be happy."
8 Nightbirde Explains The Inspiration For Her Song
When it comes to embracing a dream, it can be easier to wait for a moment where it feels comfortable than to chase it outright. Jane speaks about not waiting any longer to make music, as her life was currently happening to her, not waiting to happen when things got easy.
Life is always going to be hard with painful moments, but, as Jane says, it's about how we embrace that moment and what we do with it next that matters.
7 Jimmie Herrod
When he took the stage, Jimmie stated that he'd be singing "Tomorrow" from Annie, and Simon let him know that it is his worst song -- in the world. Cowell even suggested that Jimmie do another piece completely, but he stuck to his guns, and it was well worth it.
A singer/songwriter from Portland, Herrod is no stranger to performing, but this moment on AGT was certainly a first for him. Not only was he a golden buzzer recipient from Sofia Vergara, but he also changed Simon Cowell's mind on a song he absolutely didn't want to hear. That is an America's Got Talent moment worth remembering and celebrating for years to come.
6 Léa Kyle
A contestant that overcame stage fright to perform for the judges, Léa Kyle is a quick change artist who had viewers around the globe and the judges completely wowed with her act.
Her quick change mixed with magic was absolutely stunning to watch, and it had a lot to do with the dresses she used, the set up of her act, and the fire that she has inside. She hopes that her time on AGT will change her life, and fans believe that it will since Heidi Klum presented her with the Golden Buzzer.
5 Léa Kyle Loves Fashion
She's always loved fashion, but after becoming a beautician, she realized that it wasn't her dream job; however, it paid the bills. Last year, her boyfriend was actually a contestant on AGT, and she took the stage once herself in an act with him. At that moment, she realized she wanted to combine her passions and try out for the show herself.
Of course, her boyfriend is her biggest supporter!
4 Northwell Health Nurse Choir
This choir full of nurses stole the hearts of viewers everywhere when they took the AGT stage to perform early this season. Not only were they immensely talented, but they also had a story that grabbed your attention from the moment they started telling it.
After a beautiful rendition of Stand By Me, the entire theater was on their feet cheering for these nurses who have given of themselves tirelessly for years. It was a beautiful moment made even more special when Howie Mandel hit that Golden Buzzer.
3 These Nurses Have Heart
Another part of their story was that they became a family during the COVID-19 Pandemic, not just to one another but also patients fighting the virus alone and scared.
2 The World Taekwondo Demonstration Team
If you're really looking for a jaw-dropping performance, this is it! Not only were the stunts they performed together absolutely mindblowing, they were so in sync; you can tell how seriously they take this opportunity. The judges said that this act gave them goosebumps, and viewers at home would agree. AGT host, Terry Crews, definitely felt inspired by their routine enough to give them the Golden Buzzer.
1 Victory Brinker
A 9-year-old contestant on AGT brought a sense of happiness and hope to the AGT stage this year and blew the minds of everyone when she opened her mouth to sing. In her intro, her mom speaks highly of her passion and talent and how this has been a dream of hers for some time now.
Victory smiles as she graces the stage, and you can tell she's a little bit nervous; however, the moment the spotlight is upon her - she absolutely lights up. She also has the audience erupting in cheers immediately.
In the moments after she sings, the judges ask host Terry Crews to join them, and they surprise her with a Golden Buzzer surprise. The sixth group buzzer was something never before done on the show and is a moment Victory will remember forever.
