She appeared on The Howard Stern Show back in 2015. As expected, Stern asked Alanis Morissette for details about her experience alongside the popular artist. Morissette made quite the reveal, stating the partnership was nothing like she had ever experienced, admitting times had changed compared to her collabs from the past.

We're going to reveal what Alanis Morissette had to say, and how Taylor Swift reacted to their partnership together. In addition, we'll take a look at another duet Alanis Morissette took on with a popular artist.

Let's get started.

Alanis Morissette Said Taylor Swift Handled Their Duet Completely Differently Compared To Female Artists From The Past

Back in 2015, Alanis Morissette appeared on The Howard Stern Show. Among the topics of conversation included Morissette's collab alongside Stern, performing "You Oughta Know" alongside Taylor Swift. Judging by Morissette's answer, it was apparent that things were different for the artist during her experience alongside Taylor Swift. Morissette admits years ago, such a partnership on stage would never have taken place.

Stern asks, "You joined Taylor Swift on stage. That's a big thing with her. She invites other women on stage." Morissette interjects, "It was the total opposite of my experience in my 20s. There wasn't a lot of sisterhood. I'd do these rock shows with like 500 men, and line one woman."

Stern adds, "It makes sense. She's always singing about guys f****** over. And here you were writing it around her age, about guys f****** you over. You guys have something really in common, you know how to capitalize on that."

Stern then asks if Swift asked the artist for any advice. Although she didn't, Morissette did reveal that there was a moment of "mutual validation" between the two on stage during their performance. Morissette enjoyed her time alongside Taylor Swift, and even then, Alanis stated that Swift was "built for this."

Morissette received positive feedback from the fans for her interview. She also got love from Taylor Swift herself for their collaboration together on stage.

Swift said, "She defined the music of her decade. She inspired a generation of confessional female singer-songwriters who all of a sudden felt like you could actually say these raw feelings that you had. You could actually sing about your real life, you could put detail to it, you could get really, really mad if you wanted to."

Swift went on to add that Alanis was a trailblazer. "And I think it's fair to say that so many of the female singer-songwriters of my generation, including myself, would not write the way that we do without her and her music."

"I don't know how to process how amazing she was. Just absolutely magnificent," Swift added about their experience together.

Although Morissette wasn't used to collabs with other female artists, it opened the door for other partnerships along the way, including another one alongside Kelly Clarkson.

Alanis Morissette Spoke Highly Of Her Experience Alongside Kelly Clarkson

It was another moment fans thought they'd ever see as Kelly Clarkson and Alanis Morissette performed 'Ironic' and 'You Oughta Know' duets. Similar to Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson had plenty of praise for the artist prior to bringing her out.

"Alanis is one of my favorite artists of all time," she said. "You can probably tell when I sing, [she's] the reason why I'm a songwriter. I love her so much. I'm highly influenced by her."

The two also shared an interview together, in which Morissette revealed how "Ironic" almost didn't make it into her album, given that it wasn't "autobiographical enough."

She revealed, "Right after 'Ironic,' I started writing from this super-, searingly quick-channeled place… but 'Ironic' was right at that turning point, so it's more storytelling," she explained. "Which is awesome, but it's less cavernous deep, deep, deep in the quicksand in here."

At the age of 49, Morissette continues to go on tour while adding to an impressive fortune of $60 million.
