Former (and possibly future) reality TV stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have been everywhere over the past week, after the couple were among the first Los Angeles residents to lose their home in the Pacific Palisades fire.
Spencer – who, along with Heidi, rose to prominence on MTV's mid-2000s show The Hills – has been vocal about a lot of things this week, and he just spilled some tea about Call Her Daddy podcaster Alex Cooper.
Backing up a bit, Spencer shared a relatively unassuming TikTok post of distant smoke on January 7, the day the Palisades fire started.
In under 24 hours, he shared an update which would go viral, disclosing that the house he shared with Heidi and their two sons had been destroyed in the disaster.
At the time, Spencer and Heidi had long been out of the glare of the reality TV spotlight, though clearly not forgotten given what happened next.
Spencer began posting nearly non-stop TikTok updates for an eager audience of supporters who empathized with the family's circumstances — and when fans asked how they could help, instead of asking them for money, he asked them to stream Heidi's 2010 album Superficial.
It worked like gangbusters, with celebrities and fans rapidly launching Superficial to the top of the charts.
That newfound virality landed Heidi and Spencer on Good Morning America, where they candidly talked about the emotional impact of losing their home, as well as the fact that they were uninsured and "house poor" when their home was leveled.
From the moment Spencer shared that their house had burned down, fans and friends rallied behind the couple — but Fox News and the Daily Mail spun their GMA appearance negatively, sending a recently traumatized Heidi into a sobbing panic attack.
Spencer – who is currently in the running for America's most revered husband – clapped back at the coverage, and fans heaped encouragement on them.
In a clip shared on Friday, January 17, Spencer answered a question about working with Call Her Daddy and Alex Cooper's "Unwell" network, and he unflinchingly spilled some tea about the wildly popular podcaster.
Spencer's One-Word Answer: 'Never'
As we've previously reported, Spencer has not rested since his house burned down, posting a flurry of TikToks each day and responding to questions from countless users.
Spencer is also open about why he's using TikTok so much — to leverage his and Heidi's current prominence so they can become more financially secure.
That has further endeared him to fans, who praised his commitment to "hustling" for his family, and for the most part, celebrities and followers have sought to help Spencer and Heidi in any way they can ... with one notable exception.
On Friday, Spencer answered a fan's question, as he's been doing, but this one was about whether he planned to "join" Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper's "Unwell" network:
Spencer shared a "stitch" or "duet" with the user who posed the question, and his answer was immediate, in the first four seconds of the clip.
After displaying the question, he said he was not open to working with Alex:
Uh, absolutely never, 100 percent — 100 percent, 110 percent.
No, last network I'd ever join.
At the moment, Spencer and Heidi have been openly seeking opportunities for collaboration, so Spencer's answer was a bit perplexing, given that Alex is the only podcaster to even approach Joe Rogan in terms of popularity.
Again, Spencer has been brutally open about basically everything lately, and he went on to explain his response —which might translate into some significant blowback for Alex:
"I messaged [Alex Cooper] when this all started happening, and everyone was getting behind us.
"I messaged her multiple times like, hey, you know we'd really appreciate you getting the Daddy Gang behind this.
"She's like, 'we got a lot going on at the house, we got people over here,' and I was like, 'it's a song, just post the song.' Nope."
Spencer didn't even get to a full minute, concluding his post about Alex Cooper by saying: "Never. Never. No."
