The controversy began when a Twitter fan looked into what seemed to be the John Marshall High School (Demie’s old high school) alumni records. The records, which showed the school’s graduating class of 2008, listed Demie as a part of that class of students. This blew up all over Twitter and social media as it suggested that at that time, Demie was actually around 29-30 years old rather than 24-25.

The viral records did not provide enough reliable evidence to prove that Demie had been lying about her age, as they could have been forged or just simply been fake from the get-go. Demie’s age is directly listed in the article when it states that she started the business at 18 years of age during her senior year in high school in 2008. This lines up with the dates of the alumni records.
