Since America's Got Talent has been airing for roughly 19 years as of this writing, there is no doubt that it is one of the most successful reality shows ever. After all, a reality show must have a slew of fans to be able to air on a major network for nearly two decades. Despite how much success AGT has enjoyed, many fans don't know a lot of facts about the show.
America's Got Talent fans may not know what happened to Terry Fator or that winners don't actually get paid $1 million. Additionally, AGT fans may be unaware that Howie Mandel has a scandalous past and that Howie was once treated cruelly by Howard Stern. Another thing that a lot of America's Got Talent fans don't seem to know is who Jordan Blue was before he earned a much-coveted Golden Buzzer.
Who Is America's Got Talent's Jourdan Blue?
On May 27th, 2025, America's Got Talent fans tuned into the show hoping to be entertained. What they couldn't know was that they would see a vocal performance during that episode that became an instant sensation.
During that episode, a singer appeared on the famous stage and performed a cover of The Script's "Breakeven." An incredibly soulful singer who gave his all, as can be seen on YouTube, Jourdan blew the studio audience away and was quickly given a standing ovation from the judges.
Most importantly for the singer, Jourdan's vocals affected Howie Mandel so much that he stood up and pushed the Golden Buzzer. After that truly stunning performance, many America's Got Talent fans wanted to know who Jourdan Blue is.
An article on NBC's official website revealed many fascinating facts about who Jourdan is.

Most notably, the article quoted Jourdan from his America's Got Talent appearance, revealing how often he performs on the streets of New Orleans. Perhaps more importantly, Jourdan explained that he has an extremely personal reason for spending so many long hours singing.
"I’ve had a lot of really cool experience through it, but it’s also a struggle. I go out and I sing from probably around 8 p.m. to 2 or 3 a.m., or until the cops kick me out of the street. It’s what I do to provide for my girlfriend and my son Jax."
From there, Jourdan explained during his America's Got Talent appearance that he hoped to set a good example for his son. "It’s hard, but I want to lead by example and show my son you should chase your dreams."

After fans saw Jourdan perform on America's Got Talent, they were blown away by his voice. While the passion and soul in Jourdan's voice was the main takeaway for fans, something else from the appearance also stood out.
According to Famous Birthdays, Jourdan Blue was born on November 27, 2001 in New Orleans, Louisiana. That means that, as of June 2025, Jourdan is only 23 years old.
During his America's Got Talent appearance, Jourdan revealed that the spot where he typically performs in New Orleans was the location of a stunning act of violence. Jourdan also explained led to him coming to an epiphany.
"At the beginning of the year there was an attack on New Orleans right on the exact block where I perform… It made me realize that there’s so much more to live for. That’s what made me choose AGT. I feel like this is the best way to level up."
Months before his America's Got Talent appearance, Jourdan was interviewed by Medium in October 2023.
On May 29th, 2025, a vocal coach named Nina Schofield reacted on YouTube to Jourdan Blue's Golden Buzzer-winning performance on America's Got Talent. Within seconds of Jourdan beginning to sing, Nina expressed that it was clear that Jourdan was a talented singer with another level of singing skills. "Woah. Woah. Already within those few seconds of him performing, we have a very different level of talent here. In terms of tonality matched with his phrasing and delivery, wow. Wow." Later in her reaction, Nina remarked on how distinctive Jourdan was as a singer. "That is not something that you can buy and his is so unique. If I heard his vocal on the radio I would instantly know that it was Jordan Blue."
During that interview, Jourdan was asked about his "origin story" and he explained that his life was already fascinating before his singing career began.
"Growing up, I was constantly getting into trouble. I was too smart for my own good and enjoyed being rebellious. I got expelled from school in 10th grade, and went to a military school where I graduated as Valedictorian and then went on to start college at 16 on track to be a lawyer. After a couple years of college, I decided that I no longer wanted to be a lawyer, but wanted to pursue singing, so I dropped out of college and started chasing my dreams of changing the world one song at a time."
From there, Jourdan described a watershed moment in his life.

Sharon Osbourne’s Makeup Artist Sued America’s Got Talent’s Producers After She Allegedly Suffered A Life-Changing Injury
America's Got Talent's producers sued after Sharon Osbourne's makeup artist allegedly suffered a horrible accident on the show's set.
While speaking to Medium, Jourdan described the moment he knew that he wanted to pursue music as a career. Furthermore, Jourdan explained what led to him auditioning for American Idol before his America's Got Talent performance.
"I had an epiphany one night while at a friend’s house. We were just talking about life and where we saw ourself in the future, and I came to the realization that I could genuinely do anything I wanted to; anything I set my mind to. I started calling friends to tell them about this epiphany I had, and one of them signed me up for American Idol. I got a call one night from the friend telling me that a TV producer saw a video of me and wanted me to audition for a singing show. After stressing the entire night, I finally picked the song I would then audition with the following day, landing myself a spot on Season 20 of American Idol."
As a part of the same Medium interview, Jourdan also described the first time he sang onstage, how it went horribly wrong, and what he learned from that.
"Back in Eighth grade, I participated in the school talent show. It was my first time ever singing in front of anybody, and I was really nervous. I ended up changing my song selection three times, the last time, being the night before the show. When it was time for me to go on stage, I felt really nervous and didn’t want to do it anymore. I ended up forgetting the lyrics halfway through the song and running offstage.
The judges still said that I did very well, and some of them didn’t even realize I didn’t finish the song. I learned two very important lessons from this experience: 1… I am my own worst critic. I thought everyone was going to think I was terrible, but if it weren’t for me telling them, they never would’ve known that I messed up! And 2… MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THE LYRICS!"
Jourdan Blue Joined A Boy Band Called 'Bout Last Night
During his aforementioned Medium interview, Jourdan Blue was asked what the most interesting story from his singing career had been. In response, Jourdan spoke about his decision to join a boy band and briefly move across the world. "So far, I’d have to say the most interesting story that’s happened since I began my career would be making the decision to join a boyband and move to Germany with them for a few months."

America’s Got Talent's Producers Got Sued Over A Wrongful Death Allegedly Caused By Their Negligence
America’s Got Talent's producers were sued after the passing of a woman in a wheelchair was blamed on their alleged negligence.
While still talking to Medium, Jourdan revealed that he joined the boy band after his tenure on American Idol ended. Jourdan also spoke very highly about the other members of the boy band, "Bout Last Night.
"After American Idol ended, I was looking for a new experience to try and I got the opportunity to work with an incredibly talented group of guys who I now consider my brothers. Today, we are known as ‘Bout Last Night."
On the official website for 'Bout Last Night, there is an interesting quote from one of Jourdan's boy band groupmates about him.
"Jourdan has a super powerful and soulful voice. Initially, we didn’t get along very well, but once we started to get to know each other, we really became brothers. We both have very similar backgrounds, as we both used to busk and sing on the street for people. Even though he’s a big troublemaker, we get along really well. If you ever needed to talk to anyone, you could always count on Jourdan because he always keeps it real. He is super talented, and I’ll always be a member of the Blue Crew!"
Based on that quote and Jourdan's comment about his groupmates, they certainly seem to care about one another.
