Spice Girl fans love catching up with Mel B, also known as Scary Spice. She once wore leopard outfits and performed with the famous girl group, but she has branched out into other areas of the entertainment industry. Over the past decade, the singer competed on Dancing With The Stars and was a judge on America's Got Talent: The Champions.
Back in 2006, Mel B dated Eddie Murphy, and the actor pays $51,000 in child support for their daughter, Angel Iris. Fans want to know how Mel B came up with this beautiful and unique name for her baby girl. Let's take a look.
What's In A Name?
Mel B has three daughters, including Madison, and there has been some drama, as Mel B wasn't allowed to bring Madison to the UK.
How did Mel B decide on her name for her youngest child?
Mel B named her daughter Angel Iris for a few different reasons. According to The Guardian, the celeb explained that Iris is a family name and Angel felt like the right name because of how much she enjoyed her pregnancy.
Mel B explained, "Angel, as she was my little angel through my pregnancy. Iris, as it's my grandma's name. Murphy, because he's the dad. And Brown, because I'm the mum!"
This is so sweet to hear, and many moms can definitely relate to thinking that their little ones are totally angelic.
Co-Parenting
Mel B had Angel Iris on April 3rd 2007, which also happens to be Eddie Murphy's birthday, according to The Sun. Murphy wasn't very involved in Angel's life for a while.
While Mel B and Eddie Murphy aren't together anymore, she can definitely count on him now, as it sounds like he's a great, loyal father.
According to Us Weekly, Mel B broke two ribs in December 2018 and went to the hospital for "emergency surgery." Murphy took care of Angel, and a source told the publication, “Angel is very well cared for. Eddie and Angel have been spending a lot of time together in recent months.”
Mel B As A Mom
Since Mel B has been parenting solo, people wonder what it's like, and she has been open about it. According to People, she said back in 2017, “My kids are great. [They’re] 18, 10 and 5. They’re all doing amazing and they’re all lovely. I just make them all listen to me. And they don’t always do.”
Mel B also said that she had experience parenting on her own with her middle daughter, Phoenix: she said, “I was a single parent for a long time with Phoenix, so I kind of learned that way, and moms always know best.”
Mel B was beloved as part of the pop girl group Spice Girls and it looks like she has been doing an amazing job as a mom to three girls. Fans enjoy keeping up with her and seeing what she's up to, and it's very moving to hear more about the story behind her youngest daughter's name.
