While things seem to be going badly for Brad Pitt in his attempts to mend his relationship with his children, Angelina Jolie and her kids are on great terms. Her three daughters, Zahara, Shiloh, and Vivienne, seem to have chosen to go by her last name, with Shiloh going as far as to legally drop "Pitt" from her name.
While most of the children are adults, they will all reunite at their mom's birthday celebration. It will apparently be a quiet, intimate affair, but Angelina is really looking forward to having all her children under one roof again.
Angelina Jolie Will Spend A 'Quiet' Birthday Celebration With Her Children
Angelina Jolie turned 49 on June 4, and for a Hollywood superstar, she will be having a very low-key celebration. Apparently, her six children will be reuniting to celebrate their mother, and the actress couldn't be happier.
"Angelina will celebrate her birthday with a quiet day at home with her kids," a source told PEOPLE. Even her children who live away from home will be attending the party. "Zahara is home from college, and she looks forward to everyone spending the day together."
This comes after the shocking news that her and Brad Pitt's 18-year-old daughter, Shiloh, is taking steps to cut ties with her dad. The relationship between Brad Pitt and his children was already strained, but now Shiloh has filed to legally drop her father's last name and become Shiloh Jolie.
It doesn't seem as though the mother-daughter relationship was in any way damaged by this, even though Angelina Jolie hasn't helped her daughter through the legal process.
"Shiloh hired her own lawyer and paid for it herself, so Angie doesn't know and can't speak for it," a source told Entertainment Tonight. Another insider shared with Us Weekly that Shiloh's decision to change her name was "connected to the abuse history" that Angelina accused Brad Pitt of, so it was clearly not taken lightly.
Despite this turbulent moment for the family, it seems it's only brought the children closer to their mother.
Angelina Jolie Is Working With Her Daughter Vivienne
Angelina Jolie's bond with her children remains strong, and her youngest daughter, Vivienne, is even following in her footsteps. The 15-year-old has been assisting her famous mother in her role as producer for her new Broadway show The Outsiders, a role that she encouraged Angelina to take in the first place.
Apparently, the teenager has her mother's commitment and love for her craft, and according to the Oscar-winning actress, Vivienne was the one keeping her in check during the production process and not the other way around.
"She'll correct me," Angelina Jolie shared. "She'll say, 'Didn't you read the memo? We have to do this. We have to go through this.' She's been a really tough assistant. She takes it very, very seriously."
It was after working together on this show that fans learned Vivienne was also in the process of dropping her father's last name. Unlike Shiloh, the 15-year-old hasn't taken the legal route, but she chose to be credited as Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill for the show.
While Angelina Jolie's relationship with her children seems better than ever, their bond with Brad Pitt might be irreparable.
