It's no secret that Taylor Swift's parents, Scott and Andrea Swift, absolutely adore their daughter. From moving cities just to give Taylor a fair shot at landing her big break in music to attending practically every show on her wildly successful Eras tour, the two have displayed unwavering support for the now 33-year-old country-pop sensation.

Curiously, despite gushing about the 'Love Story' singer on multiple occasions, the two have remained notoriously tight-lipped about their own family life, paving the way for all manner of rumors and speculation. So, what kind of relationship do Scott and Andrea have today, and are they still on speaking terms?

Are Taylor Swift’s Parents Still Together?

As alarmingly evident from her wildly successful Eras Tour, country-pop sensation Taylor Swift is one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet. Even with ticket prices reaching for the stars and tour merchandise not quite hitting the mark, fans still flocked to witness the now 33-year-old's electrifying performances.

Yet, even back in the 2000s, when there was no fan base to speak of, there were still at least two die-hard fans who believed in Taylor's talent; her ever-devoted parents, Scott and Andrea Swift.

The two have been by Taylor’s side from the very beginning, going as far as relocating from Wyomissing, Pennsylvania to Hendersonville, Nashville just to give their daughter a fair shot at chasing her dreams.

“We moved far enough outside Nashville to where she didn't have to be going to school with producers' kids and label presidents' kids and be reminded constantly that she was struggling to make it," Andrea explained to Entertainment Weekly in 2008. "We've always told her that this is not about putting food on our table or making our dreams come true."

But while they’ve never shied away from gushing about their daughter and her awe-inspiring journey to stardom, Scott and Andrea have masterfully shielded their own lives from prying eyes. So, when whispers of a separation began circulating back in 2012, fans were understandably caught completely off guard.

According to a report published by RadarOnline at the time, the two called it quits sometime between 2011 and 2012, but opted not to file for divorce out of concern for their daughter’s career.

An insider source shared with the outlet the following:

“The Swifts stopped wearing their wedding rings. They haven't filed for divorce because they don't want it to damage Taylor's career.”

Are Taylor Swift's Parents On Speaking Terms?

Scott and Andrea have remained tight-lipped about their relationship, neither confirming nor refuting swirling rumors. However, nearly two years after rumors of their separation started circulating, PageSix published an article that seemed to shed some more light on their relationship.

According to the outlet, the two had become “difficult and controlling stage parents” and had alienated a chunk of Taylor’s team in a bid to assume total control over her career.

“Taylor’s parents are incredibly difficult to deal with. Their expectations are enormous, and they are very hard to please,” an insider explained to the outlet. "They want to pay as little as possible and treat people like s**t, because they think those people are lucky to have the chance to work with a superstar like Taylor.”

The report also appeared to lend credibility to rumors that Scott and Andrea were no longer on amicable terms, with an insider claiming that the two had developed such a strained dynamic, they were no longer living together and couldn't even bear to be in the same room.

The Source said:

“Taylor’s parents think they can do things better, and what makes things complicated is that they no longer live together. They are not on the same page and don’t even like to be in the same room. Andrea requests that her husband not be present at meetings. Taylor is incredibly smart and professional, but at some point, she’s going to need her parents to stop, before it turns into a total Katherine Heigl ‘momager’ situation.”

Curiously, the report came nearly three years after Taylor Swift purchased a $1.4 million estate in Nashville for the twosome, where she was reportedly visiting them from time to time. “It’s an incredible house,” a source close to the singer-songwriter told US Weekly of the purchase. “Taylor’s been visiting her parents there and she’s so excited for them.”

What Happened Between Taylor Swift’s Parents That Led To Their Rumored Separation?

Though neither Scott nor Andrea have commented on their rumored separation, speculations abound that their close involvement in Taylor's career might have created an irreparable rift in their relationship.

According to RadarOnline, Andrea's decision to accompany Taylor on practically every tour factored heavily into their decision to separate.

"Andrea being on tour with Taylor full-time has really been hard on her relationship with Scott," an inside source shared with the outlet.

However, according to a 2015 report by New York Daily News, trouble had been brewing long before Taylor ascended to international stardom.

Ronnie Cremer, the Pennsylvania-based computer repairman who taught Taylor how to play guitar told the outletthe following:

“They didn’t have a good relationship, the mother and father. (Scott) used to tell me… ‘I got a wife that doesn’t love me. I’m trying to help my daughter out, and do all the right things, and my wife could care less.’ So, it was a weird dynamic.”

Despite their rumored separation, Scott and Andrea have continued to support Taylor Swift's thriving music career. In addition to attending multiple concerts in support of her daughter, Andrea has maintained a hands-on approach to Taylor's career, playing the role of momager long before the now 33-year-old landed her big break.

Though not as hands-on as Andrea, Scott remains one of Taylor’s biggest cheerleaders, with the pop star once describing him as “just a big teddy bear who tells me everything I do is perfect."
