Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen rose to fame thanks to portraying Michelle Tanner in the sitcom Full House — a role they played from 1987 until 1995. In the '90s and early 2000s, the Olsen twins were some of the most well-known teen stars in the industry which is why plenty were surprised when they quit acting and decided to keep their lives as private as possible.

The Olsen Twins Didn't Appear In The 'Full House' Sequel

A reason why many might think that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen aren't friendly with the Full House cast is the fact that the twins didn't appear in the sequel show Fuller House which ran between 2016 and 2020. The twins were the only main cast members from the original show that didn't make an appearance in the sequel.

The sequel's executive producers revealed that they reached out to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen about appearing on the show, but that the twins didn't feel comfortable joining the cast. However, Mary-Kate seemed keener on making a cameo, and until season three of Fuller House producers have been reaching out to the twins trying to make Michelle Tanner have an appearance on the show. Unfortunately for fans, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen never appeared in the sequel which aired its final fifth season in 2020.

Are The Olsen Twins Friends With Anyone From 'Full House'?

While many assumed that the reason Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen didn't join Fuller House is its cast — that couldn't be further from the truth. There is no bad blood between the cast and the twins, and it seems as if the only reason Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen decided to not jump on board of the projects is the fact that they have quit acting.

Actor John Stamos who plays Jesse Katsopolis in the sitcom revealed just how proud he is of the twins on his true-crime podcast, The Grand Scheme: Snatching Sinatra. "I remember trying to get them on Fuller House and they didn't want to come in or there was some miscommunication, or whatever it was – it was blown out of proportion," Stamos said. He also revealed that his co-star Lori Loughlin (who plays his wife Becky) told him that the Olsen twins had won several Council of Fashion Designers of America awards. "That's like winning an Oscar. It's like 'Oh okay, that makes sense.' It's really inspiring. It's just strange to think of them as those little kids. Now they're such smart, powerful, important women. And they were smart, powerful, important kids too, but it's just great to see."

When their co-star their Full House co-star, Bob Saget, died earlier this year, the Olsen twins released an emotional joint statement honoring him. "Bob was the most loving, compassionate, and generous man. We are deeply saddened that he is no longer with us but know that he will continue to be by our side to guide us as gracefully as he always has. We are thinking of his daughters, wife, and family and are sending our condolences," they wrote.

In an interview from February 2021, Bob Saget revealed that he was still in touch with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. "Ashley and Mary-Kate, I love so much. When I’m in New York or when they’re here, when we can, we see each other."

Candace Cameron Bure who plays D.J. Tanner in the sitcom revealed that she isn't in touch with the twins too often. However, she did admit that she is in touch with the Olsens' younger sister, the actress Elizabeth Olsen. When asked whether she speaks to her, Bure said: "Once in a while, I do. She's a sweetheart."

Candace Cameron Bure did reveal that after she launched her clothing line exclusively through QVC, she received a thoughtful text message from Ashley Olsen. "The clothing line debuted in April and I had such a lovely text from Ashley; it was very sweet," the actress said. "She congratulated me and thought the clothes were wonderful and it was a really sweet message, and so encouraging because they are fashion icons and have done amazing things in the fashion industry, so it was quite the compliment."

Judging from what their Full House co-stars have said about the twins, it seems as if Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen are occasionally in touch with their old co-stars, but they don't seem to be too close to them.
