Anytime an Eminem album drops, it’s pretty much a given that someone, somewhere, is going to retaliate against his lyrics.
Creating controversy is his specialty and we’re not surprised to see social media exploding with as much mad love for his talent as there is intense criticism about his lyrics. Social media is flooded with Ariana Grande fans rushing to her defense and in full attack mode against Eminem.
The outrage is in response to a reference he made about the bomb attack of 2017 which occurred during an Ariana Grande concert. We can only assume Ariana is deeply upset but her camp has not yet released a public statement.
What’s All The Fuss About?
The album is pretty incredible if you’re an Eminem fan. If you’re not, well, of course, it will be an easy task to uncover lyrics that can be viewed as offensive.
The song Unaccommodating is under fire for the lyrics that many feel to be insensitive and highly offensive to the families affected by the 2017 attack.
According to BBC, the lyrics that have Grande fans enraged are; "I'm contemplating yelling 'bombs away' on the game/Like I'm outside of an Ariana Grande concert waiting."
Eminem isn't condoning the attacks, he merely mentions them. In fact, the entire album promotes firmer laws surrounding gun control.
It seems Eminem made a reference to a sensitive topic and perhaps framed the lyric in a manner that’s not as gentle as some may have hoped… but... it’s Eminem.
Critics Are Hitting Hard
There’s just no explaining this to Eminem’s critics as his social media page reveals outrage over the use of this reference in his music.
Teen Vogue reports that the Mayor of Manchester is among those who are up in arms about this song, but one person weighed in to remind his haters that “he’s raised over $2 million when the Manchester attack happened."
Sometimes the hard topics are difficult to talk about, but once again, Eminem has people talking.
The only person silent so far is Ariana Grande. Her fans definitely have their hate-on for Eminem right now, and we’re curiously awaiting a formal response from Grande to see where she stands on this topic.
