Being known to make diva-like demands, it's not surprising that the "7 Rings" singer has some interview moments that can come off as confrontational to viewers.
Here's a look into the artist's most confrontational interviews...
6 Ariana Grande Got Annoyed By Sexist Questions And Comments During An Interview
Ariana Grande's Interview With Power 106 Los Angeles - October 2015
In a 2015 interview with Power 106 Los Angeles, hosts Eric D-Lux and Justin Credible had Ariana Grande on the radio show to promote her single "Focus," which was released on October 30, 2015.
The interview started off in high spirits with the hosts asking Grande a series of questions about her music and interests, alongside playing games such as a song-guessing game where Grande had to guess which lyrics matched her songs. The conversation seemed to be going great until the hosts started asking Grande superficial questions and making comments that obviously bothered her.
One of many bothersome questions came up during a segment of the show where the hosts created questions surrounding the themes of Ariana Grande's song titles; she was asked this: If you could use makeup or your phone one last time, which one would you pick?
"Is this what you think girls have trouble choosing between? " Grande responded, visibly annoyed.
"Is this men assuming that that's what girls would have to choose between?... You need a little brushing up on equality."
This led to Grande shifting the conversation into a quick and subtle lesson on feminism, ultimately avoiding the question she didn't like entirely.
5 Ariana Grande Isn't Fond Of Celebrity Reporters, And She Isn't Afraid To Tell Them To Their Faces...
Ariana Grande's Interview With Entertainment Tonight - August 2014
In a short 2014 interview clip from Entertainment Tonight, Ariana Grande shamelessly confronts a reporter as she tries to clear up rumors about her song "Break Your Heart Right Back" from her "My Everything" Album.
Grande appeared defensive after the ET reporter started quoting previous interview responses regarding the backstory to the song in question. Grande quickly interjected, saying, "People took my quote and made a headline out of it. I know what y'all do." (insert eye roll.)
The ET interviewer continued to allow Grande to clear up the rumors, but any viewer of this interaction can vicariously feel the tension in the room and, quite literally, cut it with a knife.
4 Ariana Grande's Called Out Reporter For Not Doing Research Before The Interview
Ariana Grande's Interview With ExtraTv - November 2013
Ariana Grande had another run-in with another reporter from ExtraTv. After questions surrounding Grande's thoughts and feelings on receiving the New Artist of the Year Award at the 2013 American Music Awards, reporter Renee Bargh finally got to what the headline entices: Ariana Grande Nearly Made Out with Patrick Schwarzenegger.
This, however, did not happen, according to Grande. In fact, Schwarzenegger and her didn't even kiss. "Girl, you didn't see the video?" Grande directed at Bargh (insert eye roll). Apparently, Bargh hadn't seen the music video and was "just told" this information. Well, this misinformation made her take most of the heat from Grande's clear irritation.
3 Ariana Grande Clapped Back After Being Compared To Ed Sheeran
Ariana Grande's Interview With Loose Women - October 2014
Ariana Grande gave off the thank you, next energy after being compared to Ed Sheeran in an interview with Loose Women. Based in the United Kingdom, it seems as if no one is safe from Grande's legendary confrontations.
During the show, the then-21-year-old Grande was asked why women need to show skin. This question followed after the interviewer acknowledged Grande's transition from a child Nickelodeon star to a star with a more mature image.
As the question was taking shape, however, Grande interrupted numerous times. First, at the accusation of her reportedly saying verbatim, "I like showing a lot of skin because I want to," in which, she turned to the audience and asked, "Did I say any of these things?" Second, at the comparison between the way she dresses and the way Ed Sheeran "just wears a scruffy, old shirt and jeans," in which she claps back "Well, he's also a boy." (insert look of annoyance.)
Eventually, Grande concluded that she doesn't think girls need to show skin and that they should feel empowered to wear whatever they want.
2 Ariana Grande Got Defensive When Ryan Seacrest Asked About Her Relationship With Mac Miller
Ariana Grande's Interview With Ryan Seacrest - September 2016
In 2016, Ariana Grande appeared on iHeart's On Air With Ryan Seacrest to talk about her "Dangerous Woman" tour and recent life updates, one of which being her blossoming romance with rapper Mac Miller. It was clear from the jump that Grande did not want to discuss her love life.
"If I post something, then that's what I'm willing to share at the moment. That doesn't mean then [that] you Ryan Seacrest with millions of listeners are entitled to more information."
Despite posting pictures of Mac Miller and her on Instagram, she didn't see that act as confirming a relationship. "It's too early for this kind of tea," Grande said, shutting down this topic.
1 Ariana Grande Called A Radio Host A Jerk During An Interview
Ariana Grande's Interview With The Edge 96.1 - September 2014
During an interview with the Australian radio station The Edge 96.1, Ariana Grande calls Mike E, one of the radio hosts, a jerk.
This comment came after Mike E attempted to give Grande life advice, saying, "Don't listen to what anyone says and, actually, if they're talking about you, it's great." He then continued to ramble on with, "Because you don't want to be... like Leona Lewis or... who's someone else that no one cares about?" This comment immediately sparked Grande's open-mouthed, shocked look in which she responded:
"You're a jerk... I hate this man right here."
Given the former Victorious star's track record with confrontational interviews, we'll for sure be getting more clap backs in the future.
