Ashton Kutcher is facing backlash for his recent comments. As readers probably know, there is a big debate in the entertainment industry about the use of AI, and a lot of people are worried that it will lead to professionals losing their jobs and the quality of shows and movies decreasing.
That's why Ashton Kutcher's opinions caused shock and outrage, as he defended people using AI to replace filmmakers. This is yet another blow to the actor's reputation. He and Mila Kunis have been trying to keep a low profile ever since they were slammed for defending Danny Masterson, and now fans have turned against him once again.
Ashton Kutcher Bashed For Comments About AI
When Ashton Kutcher was asked his opinion about AI, he surprised fans with his comments. While it seems most actors are worried and dismayed about its effect on art, the That 70s Show star is the exact opposite. He's actually very excited about the possibilities of working with Artificial Intelligence.
"Why would you go out and shoot an establishing shot of a house in a television show when you could just create the establishing shot for $100? To go out and shoot it would cost you thousands of dollars," Ashton Kutcher said. "Action scenes of me jumping off of this building, you don’t have to have a stunt person go do it, you could just go do it [with AI]."
As if to illustrate it, he added "I didn’t have to hire a CGI department to do it. I, in five minutes, rendered a video of an ultramarathoner running across the desert being chased by a sandstorm. And it looks exactly like that."
"You’ll be able to render a whole movie. You’ll just come up with an idea for a movie, then it will write the script, then you’ll input the script into the video generator and it will generate the movie. Instead of watching some movie that somebody else came up with, I can just generate and then watch my own movie."
People were outraged at his comments, accusing him of wanting people to lose their jobs. "Imagine being Ashton Kutcher stepping onto a film set now, after coming out and advocating for all those crew people to lose their jobs and f***ing starve."
"Greed will always come first. Just because you can save money it should only be used at a minimum cost of human jobs. As consumers and filmmakers we must reject this garbage," someone else added.
Ashton Kutcher's Reputation Is Crumbling
Ashton Kutcher's reputation has only continued to suffer after this statement.
Fans have been gradually turning their backs on the actor ever since he and Mila Kunis wrote letters in defense of Danny Masterson, asking the judge for leniency even after he was convicted of rape charges. In fact, his support for his disgraced co-star came up in response to Ashton Kutcher's statements.
"Why is anyone listening to the rapist supporter anymore?" someone wrote on X. "Did Ai write his letter of support for Danny Masterson?" another user sarcastically asked.
Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have since apologized for their letters of support, with the actor resigning from his position as Chairman of the Board of Thorn, an organization that protects children from sexual abuse. However, fans are still not over his error of judgment.
