The Bachelor franchise casting process has been heavily criticized by fans, as numerous contestants have been found to have had disturbing pasts that included arrests and restraining orders, which should never have allowed them to compete on the show.

Examples of this includeThe Bachelorette Season 21 contestant Devin Strader, who was arrested for burglarizing his ex-girlfriend's home and also had a restraining order against him in 2017. Devin was ultimately given the final rose by Jenn Tran, who also proposed to him. However, not only was Jenn love bombed by Devin, she was left unaware of his criminal past. Thankfully, the two have gone their separate ways.

Devin, who continues to be known as the most hated man in America, is just one of several Bachelor franchise contestants and leads who have arrest records before and after appearing on the reality TV series.

“Luckily, I have a family that is super supportive and friends that gave everything they could to keep my head in a relatively good space. I’m not going to lie, there was moments you didn’t think it was worth waking up.”
