Barbie Ferreira just announced her departure from HBO’s Euphoria, but fans of the actress can expect to see her on the big screen very soon.

According to E! News, Barbie is set to star in Prime Video and Blumhouse’s new psychological thriller House of Spoils. The plot settles around a chef (played by Ariana DeBose) who opens a restaurant on a remote state. During her journey, the chef encounters a variety of problems, including the looming spirit of the estate’s former owner.

It's unclear what Barbie’s exact role in the film will be, but reports say she’ll play a witty sous-chef.

When Will Barbie’s New Movie Debut?

Although fans are eager to see Barbie in new projects thanks to her break-out role as Euphoria’s Cat Hernandez, it looks like they’ll have to wait a while, as production isn’t starting on the movie until the fall. The film is being directed by Bridget Savage Cole and Danielle Krudy, who developed the script based on an original idea.

While Barbie is best known for her work on television, the 25-year-old has already appeared in a handful of movies. She made her film debut in 2020’s Unpregnant, and appeared in Jordan Peele’s Nope, which hit theatres this summer.

Barbie originally got her start in the entertainment industry as a model. She’s starred in campaigns for brands like Aerie, Adidas, H&M, and Forever 21.

Why Barbie Left Her Hit Role In Euphoria

Last week, the actress announced her departure from Euphoria via Instagram after two seasons on the show. "After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I'm having to say a very teary-eyed goodbye," she wrote.

"I hope many of you could see yourself in her like I did, and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today,” Barbie continued.

The model didn’t elaborate on why she left the role. But even before her departure, there were rumors of a disagreement between her and Euphoria’s creator Sam Levinson.

Barbie reportedly didn’t like the turn her character’s storyline took in the second season – Kat lied about having a terminal illness to break-up with her boyfriend who she felt was too perfect. Speaking to The Daily Beast, various sources alleged that the actress walked off the Euphoria set at least twice while filming and that she also sustained an injury while working on the fourth episode.

Representatives for Barbie and Sam have declined to comment on the alleged feud.
