Emma Stone is among the Hollywood A-listers these days, with a booming net worth of $30 million. Still, in her early 30s, we expect that figure to climb, along with her career.

Emma's breakout role ended up being alongside Jonah Hill and Michael Cera in the 2007 classic 'Superbad', playing the role of Jules. It was only up from then on, as she would star in films like 'Easy A', 'Crazy, Stupid, Love' and then into serious genres such as 'Gangster Squad', 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' and arguably her best in 2016 with 'La La Land'.

Oddly enough, just a few years before 'Superbad', Stone was struggling to find just about anything. She disliked the audition process and in a lot of cases, studios didn't even want to make her read in general... the moral of the story, never give up, even when it doesn't look all too good.

Stone had a circumstance in which she could've easily got down on herself and it was during a sketch comedy audition. The gig could've opened the door to a massive opportunity, however, Stone quickly learned that she was not ready for the gig and ill-prepared, to say the least.

Let's find out what role she missed out along with the struggles that took place early on.

Finding Work Wasn't Easy

At the age of four, most of us don't have a clue as to what we're doing in life, not Emma Stone, from a young age, she knew that becoming an actress was her biggest goal. However, auditions weren't going so great early on and she worked at a dog-treat bakery while auditioning. Whatever pays the bills right.

Alongside E!, Emma recalls the process being very difficult during her teens. Auditions really weren't her thing, "I've had a version of those many many times. I think the hardest part was, for awhile, I auditioned for a lot of things, which is great when you're an actor and you're getting a lot of auditions."

Not only was Emma getting the cold shoulder, but she wasn't getting sent out for auditions in general at one point in time, "I wasn't getting called back for anything when I first moved to LA and so, they just stopped sending me out," she recalled. "There was a large swath of time where nobody wanted me to come in and that feeling was actually worse than any of the, you know, the initial auditions and being kind of rejected."

The tide would eventually turn and Emma would also admit that the audition process is a lot easier these days, especially with the power of social media. Getting noticed is a lot easier, "You can create your own content now and you can put things out into the world that you've written or you've directed and they're able to be seen online," she said. "I think that's an amazing opportunity. You can do it yourself."

While on the 'Tonight Show', Emma discussed her past. At the age of 12, her career could've got off to a promising start, however, it all went south due to her lack of preparation.

'All That' Audition

For those that don't remember, 'All That' was comparable to SNL, as a sketch comedy show for kids over on Nickelodeon. The show was a great launchpad for several careers including Kenan Thompson, Amanda Bynes, Nick Cannon, Drake Bell, and a slew of others. Emma Stone could've been added to that list, however, her audition was a fail.

According to Stone, she was unaware of what was needed prior to her audition, "Well, I guess it was sort-of like SNL, except that I didn't know that you had to have characters. So, I thought they were going to give us sketches, and then like five minutes before I went into the room they said, 'You need to have three characters when you go in the room.'.. And then I made up a couple of characters."

We can only imagine the pressure Emma must've felt just minutes before. We must admit, despite such a small window, Stone came up with some great gimmicks, "I remember that one was a cheerleader that couldn't spell what she was cheering. So I was like 'Be aggressive, B-E A-R?' And then there was another one that was actually pretty nuts that was a babysitter who is possessed. So as she is reading books to the kids, she's like, 'Goldilocks and the [possessed voice] three bears."

She didn't get the role but don't feel too bad as just a couple of years later, her career changed forever taking on the role of Jules in 'Superbad'.
