9 Their Relationship Growth
During season two of the reality TV show Below Deck, characters Dani and Jean-Luc began having what looked like a romantic relationship.
However, during another episode in May of 2021, Jean-Luc said he was “definitely afraid to fall in love”.
8 An Unexpected Distraction
"When I am drunk," said Dani during the same episode, “I get touchy and emotional.”
After this, viewers were shocked to see Dani and Alli run off to a cabin together, suggesting something happened between them. Later, Dani said, “I mean, Alli's gorgeous, you know, and for me, if people are having fun and you're not upsetting anybody, it doesn't matter if it's a boy or if it's a girl."
Sounds like Dani never had commitment on her mind.
7 An STD?
In another shocking twist, Jean-Luc also confessed to Dani that he might actually have an STD. After hearing this, Dani got emotional, saying, "I'm thinking I'm having fun and enjoying myself and then there you go, serious s***. Not only f****** feelings but also f****** diseases.” She even thought about leaving the show. Yet, a conversation with Colin convinced her to stay.
As it turns out, Jean-Luc ended up finding out his STD scare was nothing. He was totally clean.
6 Commitment And The Future
In a later episode, as the season was closing, the couple shared what their thoughts were about the future of their relationship. Jean-Luc said Dani “means a lot,” but Dani, contrary to what her actions might have suggested, confessed that she wanted “to have babies,” and that she wanted “to get married.”
As the season ended, the pair left the boat together after Jean-Luc suggested she take “a leap of faith.”
5 Dani Becomes Pregnant
In an April Instagram post, Dani shocked the world when she announced a surprise pregnancy. Her caption? “It’s just you and I little baby.”
The Bravo star remained tight-lipped about the baby’s parentage. "I just don’t think that’s relevant for my situation, that’s all. I understand that people are curious about it… I just don’t think it’s anybody’s business right now.”
4 Jean-Luc Speaks Out
The day after the reunion episode aired, Jean-Luc said, “Yes, I know paternity test kits are available at drugstores, but the goal is for us to take the tests together instead of shipping saliva samples around the world. But yes, there will be one ASAP.”
He continued with, "Why am I sharing on Insta? Because it’s the only way I have to set the record straight about me not wanting to be involved if the baby is mine." Allegedly, Dani had blocked Jean-Luc from seeing her Instagram, late last year, and to further complicate things, Jean-Luc said he had been contacted by Dani recently.
3 Jean-Luc Is Likely The Father
Dani eventually confessed that Jean-Luc is likely the father of the baby girl. “This baby was made during the season while we had cameras 24/7 with us and I only slept with one guy,” she said. “He hasn't supported me at all in any way. He thinks it is not his child and he doesn't want to have anything to do with it."
However, Jean-Luc apparently wants to be a father to the baby, if she’s his, and even stated he would move closer to Dani in Australia if this was the case. He said, "Dani, what we had on the show for me was real… What I felt for you, and the time that we had, was genuine. Everything that I ever said to you was true.”
Then, he said, "The fact that we are at where we are now, I am really sorry and I would assume to say that most of it is my fault. Maybe it's because I am the boy that you think that I am. With that being said, I want to be there for you. ... I need you to know that I did support your decision and... I really hope that we can… have respect for one another like we did."
2 New Conflicts?
Jean-Luc, after being quite helpful and encouraging when Dani revealed her pregnancy, allegedly changed face once Dani hit the 16-week mark. “It got a bit weird,” she said on a July podcast. “We weren’t talking every day.” Apparently, Jean-Luc never bothered to get a paternity test.
Dani made it very clear that their friendship was over. “He knew when my due date was,” she claimed. “He didn’t reach out on my due date, so he did complain that I didn’t share the birth with him, but I’m, like, ‘Dude, you said you’re not the father so and you’re not communicating with me.’”
“The thing is,” she continued, “I don’t want my daughter to one day be wondering why he didn’t make it possible…. I just don’t want to do that to my child one day. But he will have to tell her why he wasn’t there before. That will be up to him to answer.”
1 Jean-Luc Is Indeed The Baby’s Father
During the reunion episode, Dani finally revealed that Jean-Luc was the father of her baby girl, Lilly.
Jean-Luc seemed to want to remain in denial, however, because as of today, he still refuses to take a paternity test.
