The new season of Below Deck: Mediterranean has officially set sail and Captain Sandy is back to run a tight ship. Croatia is in store for a rowdy crew and even rowdier guests. Last season left the group divided due to preexisting tensions.
This time around, new faces join a couple of OGs. Based on the preview, it doesn't look like Malia is Sandy's favorite without any level of criticism. Things are about to get heated.
New Chief Stew In Town
Katie Flood is the new chief stew, as Hannah Ferrier left the franchise after she was mistreated on Season 5. Malia White is back as well, which many Below Deck fans aren't happy about.
After she ratted out Hannah last season for her use of a CBD pen and antianxiety medication, lots of people don't want her back on their screens.
Journalist Louis Peitzman made that known via Twitter, "Watching theBelow Deck Medpremiere and fast-forwarding through all the S*ndy and M*lia scenes." We still can't get over the shady trend where people place asterisks over names as if they're curse words.
Captain Sandy has to up her fanbase this season, without any slip-ups similar to Season 5. She briefly touched on her behavior in the first episode's introduction but left her ownership over her actions with much to be desired. It was a quick "could have done some things differently" and that was that.
Another viewer posted a screenshot of their text messages with a friend, in which they claim to boycott Season 6. Their text reads "I won't watch Mediterranean. I am protesting. I'm still mad about Hannah."
Even those who don't like how Hannah leads as chief stew agreed about last season's missteps, "I mean she's been increasingly bitter and inconsistent as a chief stew as seasons carried on, so I'm glad for the new faces. That being said how it went down was sketch."
Trailer Sneak Peek
For those who are still excited to tune in, the Season 6 trailer looks like it's going to be a Croatian bender. We're ready to see full-screen the reason why people say nothing good happens after midnight.
The crew's twerking in firefighter outfits and drinking up like it's Oktoberfest. Not only that, but the common Achilles heel that is boat romances will bring about tension and heated arguments.
Reactions to the trailer are mixed, as longtime lovers of Below Deck didn't sign up to just watch a group of 20-somethings get blackout drunk. They want to see extravagant and difficult guests, complete with bits of drama between the crew.
A commenter under the trailer complained, "I remember when the show was more than drunk crew antics. Where has that show gone?"
Other comments kept the Sandy and Malia hate train chugging along, "Bravo needs to listen to the audience...no one wants Captn Sandy or Malia. Won't be watching and will make sure to delete the recordings."
Sandy And Malia Feud
Others can't help but notice a shocking part of the trailer, Sandy reprimanding Malia. We see Sandy aggravated and telling Malia, "You should have come to me that he was hurt!" A snippet of the trailer shows one of the crew members having chest pains and an ominous ambulance entering the dock.
Fans on Instagram again, called out Malia snitching on Hannah last season because she was so aware of safety precautions, yet she didn't inform Captain Sandy about a crew member's injury.
Another fan pointed out that stark contrast on YouTube, "Malia had no problem communicating with sandy last season. Now, this season you can't tell sandy someone is hurt?"
We know how badly viewers' harsh criticisms can affect those on reality television. Yes, they know what they signed up for when joining a show. However, it looks like stormy waters when it comes to the amount of backlash these two women will receive.
The season's barely started and Bravo fanatics are even questioning Andy Cohen's casting judgment at this point. We know he'll have to address his choice to keep them on board at some point, but we're wondering if we'll have to wait until the reunion for him to do so.
