Summary

  • Chef Mila from Below Deck Med Season 4 faced criticism for her unhygienic cooking practices and culinary disasters.
  • Mila's attempt at baking a birthday cake resulted in disaster, showcasing her lack of skills and quality control.
  • Chef Mila's nachos, served to guests on a luxury yacht, were deemed as one of the worst dishes ever made on the show.

Bravo's Below Deck and its spinoff have introduced viewers to the yachting lifestyle, most specifically, the crew members who do whatever they can to satisfy their guests. There's the chief stew, who, along with his or her stewardesses, handles the interior of the yacht, cleaning, doing laundry, serving guests, and overall hospitality. There's also the bosun, and his or her deckhands who handle the components of a ship's hull.

And, of course, there's also the chef, who arguably has one of the toughest jobs on a boat - making delicious food that should be nothing but exemplary. The Below Deck franchise has given viewers very memorable chefs like Ben Robinson, who has become a fan favorite. However, there's one chef who became memorable for all the wrong reasons. That chef was Mila Kolomeitseva of Below Deck Med Season 4.

'Below Deck Med': The Truth About The Stars Of Season 9's Horrible Work Ethic

The cast of 'Below Deck Med' was criticized by Zach Gilford for its poor work ethic. Here's the truth about what the stars do on the job.

Below Deck Mediterranean's Chef Mila Kolomeitseva's Steak Licking Incident

Season 4 of Below Deck Mediterranean featured Captain Sandy at the helm of Sirocco. It also featured memorable faces like Hannah Ferrier as Chief Stew and João Franco as Bosun. For Season 4's chef, Captain Sandy went with Mila Kolomeitseva, a Russian-born chef who trained at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. Or, did she?

Chef Mila's cooking was questioned from the very beginning. In the premiere episode of Season 4, she was seen licking a raw steak that was to be served to guests. Guests pay thousands of dollars to experience a few days aboard a luxury yacht, and this was just unacceptable. What these guests also did not know was that Mila was sick with food poisoning and would excuse herself to throw up.

During the Below Deck Med After Show, lead deckhand Travis Michalzik and deckhand Jack Stirrup were shown the video of Mila licking a guests' steak. Jack shared, "What is she licking a raw steak for? Oh yeah, she was spewing it up, wasn't she? ... It was like a f****** little cat."

This should have been an immediate firing, but it seemed that even Captain Sandy and the rest of the crew were unaware of Mila's disgusting actions.

Chef Mila's Attempt At A Birthday Cake Went Horribly Wrong

Chef Mila was tasked with creating a birthday cake from scratch for a charter guest who was spending their birthday on Sirocco. Someone who was taught at Le Cordon Bleu would most certainly have known how to make a cake. But, even if they didn't, it's not very hard to search for a cake recipe.

Below Deck chefs ranked worst to best, according to Reality Tea:

  • 8 Chef Mila Kolomeitseva
  • 7. Chef Kiko Lorran
  • 6. Chef Mathwe Shea
  • 5. Chef Tom Checketts
  • 4. Chef David White
  • 3. Chef Jack Luby
  • 2. Chef Adam Glick
  • 1. Chef Ben Robinson

Although Mila stated that she did not undergo pastry training, she attempted to bake a cake that turned out to be a disaster. Fans will remember that chief stew Hannah tried the cake and told Mila that the cake was overpowered with baking soda. Mila disagreed with Hannah, until Captain Sandy did her own taste test and agreed with Hannah.

Chef Mila's cooking techniques also came to question when she failed at making pancakes from a box and served canned seafood.

The cake was not served, and instead, stewardess Anastasia Surmava, who had culinary experience, came to the rescue and made a delicious birthday cake.

Fans All Remember Mila's Disastrous Plate Of Nachos

Chef Mila's nachos, which she wanted to serve the guests with, will forever be one of the worst, if not the worst, dishes ever made on the Below Deck franchise.

Chef Mila's dinner theme of the night was to create Mexican dishes. She served chicken enchiladas, beef tacos, and nachos with cheese. Not only did her dinner look subpar, but her dishes were certainly not something a chef with a prestigious culinary background would ever serve. In fact, her beef tacos looked like a terrible version of Taco Bell.

Chef Mila's nachos were even worse. The chef prepared a bag of nacho chips with a jar of salsa and prepackaged cheese on top on a plate. Hannah was dumbfounded with the lack of culinary skills Mila showcased and didn't even dare serve the nachos to her guests.

"In nine years of yacthing, I've never refused to take a dish out."

This was a huge dinner disaster on Mila's part, and it was extremely embarrassing for Hannah and her stewardesses to serve the guests with her lackluster dishes.

Chef Mila's Character Was Also Put Into Question

Chef Mila was ultimately fired by Captain Sandy for her questionable cooking. In the meantime, Anastasia and Travis agreed to step in as chefs for a brief period before OG chef and fan favorite Ben Robinson came aboard the Sirocco.

Although Chef Mila's cooking was downright terrible, it was not the worst thing she had done during her stint on the show.

Viewers may recall Mila and the crew stepping out during one of their off nights to have dinner. During a cab ride, Mila makes homophobic remarks and gets called out by crew members.

"I don't want to see a man kissing a man in front me," Mila said in the taxi. "I don't want my son to be growing up and seeing two men kissing each other and thinking this is normal..."

Captain Sandy, who is gay, did not learn of Mila's comments until after she was fired. While appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, she shared that she would not have fired Mila because of her comments, but would have spoken to her privately about it.

"Her opinion of me doesn't matter because I would have to care about that person for me to care," Captain Sandy simply shared.
