Bethenny Frankel did not hold back on TikTok when discussing the Real Housewives Of New York City reboot — but she later deleted her post.
Luckily, a copy of the Saturday (November 16) clip was saved and shared on Twitter/X, so fans who missed it have the chance to hear her take on the "new" RHONY.
And Bethenny is unsurprisingly not impressed with it in any way, shape, or form.
Before we get into what Bethenny had to say, there's a bit of ongoing, recent context regarding Bravo, the Real Housewives franchise, Andy Cohen, the production secrets around reality TV, and a discussion known as the "Reality Reckoning."
Last October, Vanity Fair summarized the "Reality Reckoning" – and Bethenny's interest in it – in a long-form piece:
"According to some Housewives, Bravo should answer for breaking them down for storylines. According to those who are responsible for the shows, however, the casts are largely in control of their own destinies.
"Now, with one of the most famous Bravo stars, Bethenny Frankel, calling for a union; two legal complaints filed by talent in the last year; and NBCUniversal releasing renewed guidance around cast behavior and production oversight, the Bravoverse is in the midst of a reckoning."
In 2024, some of that "reckoning" has splashed back onto Andy — he's named as a defendant in a suit filed by former RHONY cast member Leah McSweeney, and he admitted he sometimes can't sleep because he's afraid he's going to get canceled.
In October, we reported on Vice's ongoing series, Dark Side Of Reality TV, and it emphasized many of the issues raised above.
Which is all to say that things are capital T tense, both in the reality genre and in terms of Bethenny's history with Bravo and status as one of the first and biggest stars to come out of the Real Housewives cinematic universe.
'Justice for Sonja, Dorinda, Luann, Ramona'
'Because They Were Ride Or Die'
In recent months, Bethenny Frankel has been incredibly busy with her post-Bravo life.
Bethenny walked the red carpet at Paris Fashion Week for L'Oréal, and her B Strong foundation was named by folks impacted by Hurricane Helene as the most helpful non-governmental organization (NGO) in its aftermath.
Clearly, Bethenny isn't suffering a lack of relevance after RHONY, and if anything, her post-reality TV career is bustling — so she doesn't need to speak up about these things for attention or views.
She is thriving.
Nevertheless, she shared a Saturday morning TikTok with a "BOILING HOT TAKE" label at the top:
Bethenny later deleted her TikTok post, but not before someone caught it early, saved a copy, and uploaded it to Twitter.
Engagement stats on the copy embedded above are in the dozens, suggesting that it was captured right away.
Her caption indicated she was "coming in hot," and she began:
"Saturday morning, firing a random shot, I have seen enough videos of people saying Real Housewives is unwatchable, it is a disaster ...
"So this is gonna be a hot take, and surprising, but justice for [original RHONY cast members] Sonja [Morgan], Dorinda [Medley], Luann [de Lesseps] and Ramona [Singer], because they were ride or die."
Bethenny also joked about the new RHONY's popularity as one of the things fans said in videos, adding:
Thirty people in the country have watched [the new RHONY].
Bethenny continued, comparing the original Real Housewives Of New York City cast to the discarded toys from Toy Story, waiting to be picked up and played with on "the shelf."
She asserted that Bravo sunk way more in terms of money into the new cast, and that the first RHONY cast was underappreciated:
"[Original RHONY cast members] have always been like the stepchildren. They’ve always been discarded. I know the money they've gotten paid, I know the demotions, the budgets, the premiere budgets.
"They know, I know, we know, you know. The new girls, I'm sure they’re lovely. I haven’t seen the show ... But these women, as they got older, just got dropped off at the side of the road."
Bethenny's commentary was extremely New York, and she even dropped a "youse" at the end of the video.
She addressed Bravo directly toward the end, advising the network to "mix" the "old girls" in with the "new girls":
"And, Bravo, now youse can't leave. You got, like, 200,000 viewers watching this piece of trash. So, go get the old girls, and dust 'em off, and mix 'em in. Humble pie is coming in hot."
It's not clear when or why Bethenny deleted the "new RHONY" TikTok post, and she hasn't said more on the subject ... yet.
