From embarrassing moments, to those that were completely unscripted, 'Big Bang Theory' had so many great and memorable scenes. Heck, Johnny Galecki was often caught laughing during scenes - that's how hard it would be to keep a straight face on-set. The show was loaded with memorable moments, including some sneaky scenes that featured significant numbers, though in a lot of these cases, fans didn't catch on.
'Big Bang Theory's' Numbers Had Meaning
The show came to an end after 12 seasons in 2019, just prior to the pandemic. In truth, we can't help but to think how incredibly entertaining it would be to see Sheldon deal with the new circumstances going on in the world. Jim Parsons was asked how Sheldon would do in the pandemic and according to the actor, he would thrive.
"He was built for this. This is the moment he was waiting for. I was saying earlier, we had an entire episode - which I didn't think about until recently - where he did like a Shel-bot where he had like a video screen on a remote-control wheelie thing. And that was when people still needed to get together in groups, and so he would just send that out and sit in his room. 'Don't touch me, don't sneeze on me.' And so, I guess, he'd be fine."
Sheldon had a lot of weird habits during his 12 seasons on the show - one of them included his love for the number 73, though according to Sheldon, it was completely normal, given that 73 had no flaws.
“73 is the 21st prime number. Its mirror, 37, is the 12th, and it mirror, 21, is the product of multiplying 7 and 3 … and in binary 73 is a palindrome… 1-0-0-1-0-0-1, which backwards is 1-0-0-1-0-0-1.”
Also, what 'Big Bang Theory' didn't tell its fans is that the number had further meaning, due to the fact it is the year of Jim Parsons birth year, 1973. He always wears a 73 shirt during the show.
The show had other secrets when it came to the numbers they used, particularly the addresses of Amy Farrah Fowler and Wil Wheaton's homes.
Amy Farrah Fowler And Wil Wheaton's Addresses Had Deeper Meaning
The OSSA channel on YouTube noticed some hidden things on 'Big Bang Theory' that most fans did not see. The video has over 6 million views and among them, is the show's sneaky use of numbers.
Numbers have symbolism, including Amy's apartment number which is a Pi constant, 314.
A lot of fans also didn't catch the significance of Wil Wheaton's address which is 1701, a reference to his time in 'Star Trek'. The USS Enterprise number ended in 1701, which was his address on the show.
Sheldon's 73 number scene turned out to be among the more memorable on the show. It should come as no surprise to realize that fans reacted positively to it. Let's take a look at what the fans had to say.
What Did The Fans Think Of Sheldon's Number 73 Scene?
The scene in question has over 200K views on YouTube, with a near 200 comments. Fans loved the scene, and it was yet another reason as to why Parsons' portrayal of Sheldon was absolutely brilliant.
"Coincidence? I think not! Seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if one of the writers noticed the number of the episode marker (they are written numerically as well as by season) and came to that inevitable conclusion."
"Did anyone else notice that Jim Parsons is born in 1973," another fan pointed out.
"73 is also the atomic number for Tantalum, which is used for medical implants and bone repair and its main use today is in tantalum capacitors in electronic equipment such as mobile phones, DVD players, video game systems and computers. I wouldn't call 73 the best number, but I am starting to see why Sheldon likes it."
"He could also have added that - 73 is also a palindrome in base 8: 111 - it the second element of a twin primes pair: (71, 73) - The Empire State Building has 73 elevators."
Clearly, fans had a blast with the scene and the meaning of number 73 to Sheldon.
