Bill Maher represents a lot of people when he calls out Hollywood hypocrisy. In fact, Bill represents a lot of people in the middle of many political issues when he takes a stand against the extremes that exist on both the right and the left. However, as per his sense of humor and general demeanor, the Real Time host tends to do it in a way that really pushes buttons. But Bill is unafraid of the backlash he receives. In fact, he embraces it. There's no doubt that it has contributed to his vast fortune. But just because Bill has bashed some of Hollywood's most beloved elites, he's also defended some. For instance, Bill doesn't understand why everyone is so angry with Matt Damon all the time.
However, The host of HBO's Real Time With Bill Maher spends more time poking fun or straight-up attacking famous actors, musicians, and TV personalities than he does praising them. While this may offend some people, it's an established element of both his acclaimed political talk show and his stand-up. Here are the celebrities that Bill clearly dislikes the most.
8 Whoopi Goldberg
Just recently, Bill and The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg have been engaged in a bit of a feud. Their big beef is about the national anthem and whether or not there should be a second national anthem for Black athletes who are offended by the meaning, history, and symbolism in the American National Anthem. While Whoopi supports multiple anthems, Bill claims it would further segregate society and give into the "woke mob". Whoopi didn't like what Bill had to say so she spent a lot of time on The View dissecting it. Bill's response was that she totally misinterpreted what he said. Either way, it's clear these two are on very separate pages as this is far from the first time they've disagreed.
7 The Rock
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is beloved in Hollywood, but not by Bill Maher. While Bill is certainly not a fan of The Rock's movies, he's mostly not a fan of his desire to be elected into high office. Bill doesn't believe in celebrity politicians. He believes that those who take such important jobs should be qualified for the position. Their credits shouldn't include Jumanji 2. Of course, his attack on The Rock took place on Real Time and therefore received a ton of press.
6 Caitlyn Jenner
Caitlyn Jenner was included in Bill Maher's Real-Time segment that discussed the dangers of celebrities seeking powerful government positions. Specifically, Bill claimed Caitlyn has absolutely no qualifications to be governor of California, which she ran for during the recent recall vote. He said that her qualifications include being "a background character in a reality show not about her."
5 Oprah Winfrey
Bill Maher has publicly called out Oprah Winfrey for promoting materialism. He claims that she represents so much about what's wrong about America based on how she manipulates her audience and gets them solely focused on the free stuff they get. "Oprah's show purports to be about spirituality. If it was, wouldn't she tell her worshiping flock to sit down, stop losing your s*** over material stuff?"
4 Kylie Jenner
While Bill gives credit to Kylie for "building a massive empire without ever releasing a s*x tape", it's clear that he's no fan of hers. In a recent segment about how the popularity of Kylie Jenner eclipses a more inspiration young person (Greta Thunberg), Bill made it pretty clear that Kylie represents so much that's wrong with Millennials and Gen Z. The obsession with altering their bodies, gaining Instagram followers, having fame without a discernable talent, and acquiring ludicrous and expensive junk.
3 Bill Cosby
It's certainly not controversial for anybody to dislike Bill Cosby after the things he's been accused and convicted of. However, Bill Maher jumped on the bandwagon far earlier than anyone else. This is because he claims that he never thought Bill Cosby was funny. More importantly, Bill Maher believed the women who came out with their horrific experiences with the legendary comedian.
2 James Corden
Bill Maher is by far not the only celebrity in Hollywood to have issues with James Corden. But their feud has received a ton of press. Essentially, Bill dislikes James because of how the late-night talk show host responded to one of his Real-Time segments. On his acclaimed show, Bill discussed the dangers of glorifying those who are overweight and not promoting a healthy lifestyle and balanced diet. James thought Bill was "fat-shaming" and slammed him on his show. This, of course, caused Bill to respond in his typical, acerbic, and cutting way.
1 Donald Trump
Is he a celebrity or is he a politician? In reality, former President Donald Trump is both so he deserves a spot on this list. But he deserves the top spot as there are few "celebrities" that Bill Maher has bashed as much as Trump. While many on the left believe Bill isn't among them, the truth is that he's very much in the center-left of the political spectrum. And "old-school Democrat", as Bill would say. And there's just no way that the majority of Trump's policies and beliefs fall in line with that. Aside from constantly ridiculing Trump's actions as a political candidate and President on a near-weekly basis, Bill has also taken really personal shots against him. This includes demanding that Trump provide his birth certificate to prove he wasn't the son of an orangutan. Trump took Bill to court over this. There's absolutely no love lost between them.
