According to reports, Brad Pitt is on relatively good terms with all of his children, with the exception of his eldest son, Pax. But while the actor is holding out hope of reconciling, his ex-wife Angelina Jolie is allegedly interfering with their relationship, or so Brad believes.
Angelina is currently in Paris, France with Maddox where the duo are working on her new film Maria. The Academy Award winner plays opera singer Maria Callas in the highly-anticipated film. She was seen on set in a variety of outfits while filming at Palais-Royal. Maddox was also photographed on set, as he appears to be working behind-the-scenes in production.
Angelina Is Working With Maddox, While He Refuses To Speak To Brad
This isn’t the first time Angelina has collaborated on a film with Maddox. He also worked with her on her film Without Blood aside his brother Pax. The movie is currently in post-production.
"We work well together. When a film crew is at its best, it feels like a big family, so it felt natural," Angelina told PEOPLE about working with her sons.
While Angelina clearly enjoys a close relationship with Maddox, the same can’t be said for Brad, who’s seemingly had a strained relationship since he split from Angie in 2016 following an altercation on a private plan involving both the parents as well as their kids.
In 2020, it was reported that Brad wasn’t on speaking terms with Maddox and Pax. More recently, a report from earlier this year said the kids were begging Angelina to drop her ongoing custody case against Brad, saying they were all fine with him, except his eldest son.
"Angelina doesn't want to let her fight for sole custody go, but the children are growing up, and even they tell their mom it's time to stop," an insider told Radar Online in June. The source added that most of the kids “fine” with seeing Brad. “Maybe with the exception of Maddox, they all actually like him,” they went on.
Maddox, 22, has also testified in Angelina’s custody case against Brad, with his testimony not painting Brad in a positive light.
Brad Believes Angelina Is Manipulating Their Kids To Side With Her
According to a new report, Brad is hoping to change his strained relationship with Maddox. “[Brad] acknowledged his drinking was a problem, and he’s truly sorry for his part in the split,” a source told in Touch Weekly, saying Brad is trying to take accountability.
“He loves Maddox dearly, and even though they’re still estranged, Brad will always hold out hope for reconciliation,” they went on.
However, with Maddox busy filming with Angelina, it may hinder Brad’s attempts to reconcile. Last month, a report said the actor is worried Angelina has ulterior motives in allowing their kids to collaborate on her projects – to hinder his relationship with them.
“He thinks this is just another attempt by Angie to drive a wedge between him and his daughter,” a source told Life & Style in August, referring to news that Angelina hired her daughter Vivienne, 15, as a production assistant on her of-Broadway adaption of The Outsiders.
“It’s no secret that Angie’s always trying to make sure the kids are Team Mom,” they went on. “She’s a master manipulator when it comes to the children taking sides.”
With Maddox working in Paris, at the very least distance appears to be a hindrance to Brad’s hopes of reconciliation, even if Angelina isn’t standing in the way.
