How Is Caitlyn Jenner's Relationship Like With The Kardashians?

In April 2015, Caitlyn Jenner told Diane Sawyer that she identified as a woman, a month after she was officially divorced from Kris Jenner. "Yes for all intents and purposes, I am a woman," she told the journalist on ABC's 20/20. Two years later, the Olympian-turned-reality TV star had a falling out with Kris after releasing her bombshell memoir, The Secrets of My Life.

Since then, Caitlyn has also had a rocky relationship with her children with Kris, including her four stepchildren from the latter's marriage to the late Robert Kardashian. The I Am Cait star has a closer relationship with her two sons from her previous marriage, despite them publicly criticizing her parenting in the past. Here's a closer look at Caitlyn's complicated relationship with every Kardashian.

1 Caitlyn Jenner And Kris Jenner Never Talk Anymore

In October 2023, Caitlyn told This Morning (via Daily Mail) it was "sad" that she and Kris aren't on speaking terms after 22 years of marriage. "Well Kris, I really never talk to anymore. Yeah, it's sad," she revealed, adding that "if there's any communication, my manager kind of talks to her." The interview reportedly fueled more tensions between the former couple.

... Kris, I don't really have any more contact with her. It's kind of sad because we went through a lot.

Kris' feud with Caitlyn started with the latter's interview on 20/20. Apparently, it was the first time the momager and the Kardashian-Jenner women heard Caitlyn say she was transgender. Two months after that, the outspoken Republican said that "a lot of times, [Kris] wasn't very nice" and that she felt "mistreated" in the marriage because Kris "controlled the money. ... all that kind of stuff."

When Caitlyn's tell-call came out in 2017, Kris got emotional about being vilified in the book during an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. "Everything she said is all made up," the latter lamented to her daughters back then. "Why does everything have to be that Kris is such a b---h and an a--hole? ... I've never been so angry and disappointed in somebody in my whole life. I'm done."

Caitlyn claimed in her book that Kris knew about her gender issues—that she would tell her about it "before I make love to her"—which the latter said did not happen at all.

Fast-forward to her 2023 interview, the former decathlete only had praise for Kris. "I was just turning 40 and met Kris on a blind date, we hit it off from day one. Was it love at first sight? Pretty close to that, yes," Caitlyn recounted. "I was totally impressed with her and how she lived her life—she had four kids, I had four kids… and we got married five and a half months later! It was very quick."

On what ended her marriage to Kris, Caitlyn told the Daily Mail it was "mutual" and there was "no animosity" between them: "When Kris and I separated, it wasn't because of trans issues. It was for a million other reasons. Kris and I had a great relationship for a long time. We built an amazing family, but circumstances and people change. And I think the hardest thing is to be able to make those changes together and still be as strong."

2 Caitlyn Jenner Wasn't Invited To Kourtney Kardashian's Wedding To Travis Barker In 2022

Caitlyn was "shocked" she wasn't invited to the wedding of Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker in Italy, back in May 2022. "She is shocked," a source told Page Six at that time. She "simply didn't make the cut," according to the insider. Kourtney's brother, Rob Kardashian, was also absent from the event, but only because he "prefers to stay out of the spotlight."

3 Kim Kardashian Was Deemed Insincere In Her 2024 Birthday Tribute To Caitlyn Jenner

On October 28, Caitlyn celebrated her 75th birthday, which Kim *briefly* acknowledged on Instagram, in the shortest Kardashian-Jenner birthday greeting in history. "Happy 75th Birthday. I love you," she wrote alongside a selfie of them together (seen above). Fans thought it was insincere.

"There are a million ways to tell a person you hate them this the top of the list," one said. Another commenter noticed that even though the tribute was "dry," Kim was the "the only one who posted." Caitlyn showed her appreciation for the gesture. "Love you so much. Thank you for everything," she wrote in the comments.

Following the birthday post, a source spilled that Kim was one of the only Kardashians to support her during her rough transition. "Caitlyn always talks about how Kimberly, as she calls her, was one of the only family members to really stand by her through her transition," the insider told InTouch Weekly. "They were much closer than a lot of people realized and that's something that Caitlyn says she'll be forever grateful for."

4 Khloé Kardashian Felt Betrayed By Caitlyn Jenner's Involvement In The House Of Kardashians

Khloé Kardashian famously admitted to being "mad" at how Caitlyn handled her transition. "What I was mad about is feeling like you were robbing me of having the opportunity to let go of my life on my own. When you're doing like your big serious surgery," The Good American co-founder told Caitlyn in a 2019 episode of KUWTK.

"You can't just do that, and then I come over one day and Bruce is gone. Like, you can't just take that away from us."

Fast-forward to May this year, Khloé said she felt betrayed by Caitlyn's involvement in the House of Kardashians documentary, which no one in their lives agreed to participate in, except the latter. "There is this new documentary about our family," the mother-of-two said during a confessional interview on The Kardashians.

In 2022, Caitlyn said it was "unfortunate to not be given the opportunity to continue" doing reality TV with the Kardashian-Jenners on their Hulu show.

"And apparently whoever [is making the doc] has been calling people that have either once been in our lives or are in our lives to do the documentary, and no one really has agreed to do it—except for Caitlyn," she continued. In the trailer, Caitlyn said: "Kimberly calculated from the beginning, 'How do I become famous?'" She also laughed when asked what it was like working with Kris.

5 Rob Kardashian Publicly Supported Caitlyn Jenner's Transition

Although Rob hasn't been seen in public for years, he showed his support for Caitlyn during her transition in 2016. "I know how it can be to feel uncomfortable in your own skin," he told People ahead of the premiere of his reality show, Rob & Chyna, alongside his ex-fiancée, Blac Chyna A.K.A Angela White. "Everybody has their own issues. As long as Caitlyn is happy, I'm happy."

Months before that, Kim revealed that Rob didn't even recognize Caitlyn at first. "[Rob asked] 'Kim, why are you sending me this? Who is this woman and why do I care?'" Kim recalled. "'Rob, that's Bruce! That's Caitlyn!' He was like, 'Oh my God, she's beautiful!' Then he called her and they had a love fest."

6 Kendall Jenner Is "More Secretive" With Caitlyn Jenner Compared To Kylie

In 2020, Kendall—who's been "daddy's girl my whole life"—said that her relationship with Caitlyn had been "growing every day" since her transition. "She could finally be honest with me. We could talk about deep emotions she was feeling through that time," she explained to People, noting that her dad wasn't as open with her growing up.

But Caitlyn said the opposite about Kendall in 2021. "She's always very kind of a little bit more secretive. We're still very close, but it's kind of harder to figure out," the former said during an episode of The Skinny Confidential Him & Her podcast.

She then noted that she and Kendall have a lot in common. "She's very athletic. We kind of both had the same attitude towards life," said Caitlyn. "I get along very well with the two of them (Kylie and Kendall). ... Kendall's off kind of doing her thing."

7 Kylie Jenner Still Talks To Caitlyn Jenner "Like Every Day"

In 2020, Kylie told Harper's Bazaar she speaks with Caitlyn "like every day." She also called her dad a "hero" following her transition. "My dad has always been an inspiration to me, from winning the gold medal at the Olympics to getting her pilot's license," she told People. However, watching her live out her true self has been the most inspiring of them all. She's our hero."

Caitlyn previously admitted that Kylie was closer to her than Kendall. "Kylie and I just seem to be closer most of the time," she told the Him & Her podcast. "Kylie's more of an open book … Kylie is just the exception to the rule. I mean, she's just—all the stars came together."
