These may only be rumors, but the hype surrounding a Wolverine anthology is drawing massive attention. According to sources at That Hashtag Show, Disney has an anthology series for their exclusive streaming service in the works. These claims have yet to be substantiated, though establishing an origin for the infamous clawed mutant would allow Disney to distinguish the MCU version from Hugh Jackman's iteration in the Fox universe. So, it makes perfect sense.

What's more, is the supposed Disney+ show would explore James Howlett's life before scientists subjected him to Weapon X experimentation. That offers lots of different avenues, depending on how old they make Logan. If he's like 60 or 70, we'll likely witness him living throughout the decades, watching it go by, all the while remaining the same age. However, if Disney gives their version of James Howlett a more storied history, he may be as old as 300 years old. Keep in mind that a season going that far back would probably take place in Canada. Wolverine is best known for being a superhero in the United States, but his origins lie in Canada. He was born there, and if the proposed prequel sends him back 300 years, he'll be in Canada because the Americas settled a little under 250 years ago.

Whether it's 300 years or 60 years ago, a Wolverine series can explore every decade. The titular character doesn't age like a human, so whichever actor Disney picks for the part can appear in any decade, look the same, and not be a plothole or inconsistency.

Is Disney Working On A List Of Potential Wolverines?

Even more interesting is the prospect of Disney already building a list of potential candidates to don a pair of bone claws. Oh yeah, before Weapon X coated Howlett's bones with Adamantium, he sported a pair of bone claws.

As far as who stands the best chance at playing Wolverine in the MCU, a couple of actors come to mind, and one of them currently plays a different Marvel character. Tom Hardy.

Before everyone discounts the possibility, let's remember that Josh Brolin portrayed both Thanos and Cable. Evan Peters, more recently, portrayed a random character on WandaVision and played Fox's adaptation of Quicksilver. He also impersonated the MCU version, so that technically means Peters has played multiple Marvel characters. Knowing that Brolin and Peters have credits as different Marvel characters, it's not far-fetched to think Tom Hardy can simultaneously portray Venom and Wolverine.

Tom Hardy, A Favorite?

The other reason Hardy is a viable candidate is he's a favorite for the role. Several publications, including CBR and ScreenRant, posted lists of their favorite actors to play Wolverine, and Hardy ranked high on both.

It's worth mentioning that Hardy possesses a manly look, which is why he's so favored. Look at the stats. Hardy is rugged, appears believable in action sequences, and can act naturally in a superhero-centric environment. He proved that and then some in 2018's Venom movie.

As far as others go, the list goes on and on. Depending on the look that Disney is going for, they may select Hardy for the part. But in the off-chance that Logan looks vastly younger, actors with Taron Egerton's likeness probably have a better shot. Such a scenario would add names like Scott Eastwood to ongoing talks. Of course, for now, all fans can do is speculate who Disney/Marvel is eyeing for the hugely popular mutant character.
