Elin Nordegren's Full Biography
Elin Maria Pernilla Nordegren is a Swedish psychologist and the ex-wife of professional golfer Tiger Woods. Born on January 1, 1980, in Stockholm, Sweden, Elin has gained significant public attention due to her high-profile marriage and subsequent divorce.
Early Life
Elin Nordegren was born in Sweden in 1980 to journalist and author Thomas Nordegren and Swedish Social Democratic politician Barbro Holmberg. She has an identical twin sister named Josefin and an older brother named Axel. Nordgren's parents divorced when she was 7 years old, and she spent an equal amount of time with each of them growing up.
Career
Though Nordegren was a swimsuit model in her teens, she never planned on making it her career.
In an interview with People Magazine, she said, "I did some modeling when I was younger. I was never very successful at it, and I didn't intend to pursue it. It is flattering to be called a model, but I hardly think a few shoots in my teenage years make me a model."
Nordegren met and became very close with Mia Parnevik, the wife of Swedish golfer Jesper Parnevik, when she worked at a Stockholm clothing store called Champagne. The couple adored her and eventually hired her. Elin, who had to move to the United States for the job, looked after their kids as a nanny for them.
After her separation from Woods, Nordegren dedicated a significant portion of her time to pursuing her psychology degree, which she believed played a crucial role in her healing process following the divorce. In 2014, she successfully completed her studies at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, graduating with a remarkable 3.96 GPA.
Personal Life
Parnevik introduced Elin to Tiger Woods, who later said he regretted ever introducing the couple. Elin Nordegren and Woods first spoke in 2001 at the Open Championship. She wasn't interested in the golfer at first, but eventually, so Tiger would leave her alone, Nordegren said yes to a date. The rest was, as they say, history.
After getting married in Barbados in October 2004, Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren welcomed their first child, Sam Alexis Woods, on June 18, 2007. Two years later, on February 8, 2009, their son, Charlie Axel Woods, was born. As they grew up, both children developed a passion for golf and often accompanied their father at his competitions.
The Scandal of 2009
In addition to reports of Woods cheating on Nordegren with multiple women in November 2009, the scandal had a profound impact on his image as a renowned athlete. The news of Woods' infidelity spread globally, resulting in widespread disappointment and tarnishing his once esteemed reputation.
To address the situation, Woods publicly admitted his mistakes, offering a heartfelt apology where he sincerely acknowledged the pain he inflicted upon Nordegren and his family, expressing deep remorse for his actions. The couple’s divorce was finalized in 2010.
Nordegren is now in a relationship with former NFL player Jordan Cameron. The couple welcomed their first child in 2019 and their second in 2022.
Net Worth
Elin received $100 million in her divorce settlement from Tiger Woods and sole custody of her children. It is estimated that she has a net worth of $200 million today.
