Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum recently starred together in the adventure comedy The Lost City where they play an unlikely pair trying to escape a remote island while being hunted down by Daniel Radcliffe.

In the movie, Bullock plays author Loretta Sage who gets kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire (Radcliffe) who is determined to find a treasure hidden within an ancient lost city. What he doesn’t realize, however, is that Loretta’s cover model Alan (Tatum) would follow in an attempt to rescue Loretta.

Now, the film also features a cameo from a very buffed Brad Pitt, but no one can deny that it was Bullock and Tatum’s chemistry that made this film incredibly fun to watch. The onscreen pair was even particularly hilarious in one scene in the movie, which would have been awkward with other actors. As it turns out too, they ended up filming it several times.

Sandra Bullock And Channing Tatum Knew Each Other Long Before Working On The Lost City

Bullock and Tatum may have never done a film together before The Lost City, but the two already knew each other quite well before they even got to set. And it seems their daughters [Tatum has daughter Everly with ex Jenna Dewan and Bullock is mom to daughter Laila] had something to do with getting the Hollywood stars bonding “in the principal’s office.”

“We have two very, very, very strong-willed little girls, you know, that at that young age were very much buttin’ heads,” Tatum explained during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden with Bullock.

Things between their girls apparently escalated to the point that they got involved in an altercation. “I said, ‘do I need to call Channing or Jenna? What do I need to do?’” Bullock recalled. “And they were like, ‘No, we’re just going to give them a task, a challenge.’ And the challenge was who can be the nicest to the other one. So, they were like bringing each other little Dixie cups of water.”

Since then, the girls have stopped fighting. At the same time, Bullock and Tatum became close friends. “We're full-on besties,” Bullock even said.

This might also essentially explain why Tatum agreed to do The Lost City soon after Bullock and directors Aaron and Adam Nee approached him about it.

“We set up this meeting with Sandy and Channing, and it was immediate. He is so full of love and life, and he’s so funny that you could just see that he’s the only guy who’s going to be able to do this kind of dance where you gradually see all the different layers to this character,” Adam said. “It happened way faster than this kind of thing should happen.”

And while Tatum and Bullock were both working on the film in the Dominican Republic, their girls were just having the best time behind the scenes. “That’s the reason we did this film, so they could have one long, Covid-safe play date,” Bullock remarked.

“We even brought motorbikes down there. All we cared about is that Everly and Laila were just having the time of their lives.”

Channing Tatum Revealed They Had To Shoot This Scene ‘Like 50 Times’

In the film, Bullock and Tatum’s characters experience a lot of misadventures as they attempt to escape the remote island while also avoiding Radcliffe and his henchmen. At some point, they even end up in the water and that’s how Tatum’s Alan ends up with leeches all over his body. In one scene, Bullock attempts to remove the leeches one by one as Tatum stands butt naked in front of her.

“Walking to set with a bunch of leeches super glued to my butt, and not having met everybody and just kind of being like, ‘Ok, this is going to be … I’m gonna be butt naked, my name is Chan today. Uh, this just is what it is,’” Tatum said of the scene.

“And then not only that but to have Sandra Bullock have like a two-page monologue with a certain part of my body. It’s a hell of a Day 2, let me just say that.”

As for Bullock, the Oscar winner admitted that it was rather hard to concentrate when Tatum was standing in front of her “stupid naked.”

“He’s stupid naked in this film, stupid,” the actress revealed while on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. “In all honesty, if you’re down there, and you have two pages of dialogue, if you’re looking down there, and you have two pages of dialogue, if you’re looking directly at it, you’ll get nothing done.”

And many may think that the scene would have been incredibly awkward for the co-stars, it turns out that the moment was also quite hilarious as they ended up doing the scene several times.

While on Ellen, Tatum confessed that he struggled to deliver the line, “They’re sucking on my butt like a Jamba Juice.” “When that line came out, we had to do it like 50 times, because I couldn’t do it straight,” the actor revealed.

Following The Lost City, Bullock has announced that she would be taking a break from acting while Tatum has several films coming up including the much-anticipated Magic Mike's Last Dance. Perhaps, in the future, these two good friends can also do another film together.
