After Chelsea Houska DeBoer was introduced to the world when she appeared in a 2009 episode of 16 & Pregnant, she went on to star in Teen Mom 2 for years. Since fans of the Teen Mom franchise tend to be so passionate, there has been a lot of interest in DeBoer ever since then.

In some cases, that interest in DeBoer has resulted in fans talking about things like her house. In other cases, DeBoer's fans and haters have come up with theories about what doesn't make sense about her Teen Mom 2 tenure.

Since DeBoer left the Teen Mom franchise behind, she has gone on to star in the HGTV show Down Home Fab. That has left many of DeBoer's fans wanting to know one thing above all others, did she like filming Teen Mom 2 or Down Home Fab more?

Was Teen Mom 2 Or Down Home Fab More Fun For Chelsea DeBoer To Film?

Thanks to streaming services, social media, and independent productions, it is easier for people to star in a show or movie than at any time in the past. Despite that, the vast majority of people will never have any first-hand experience of what it is like to make a TV show or movie.

Since most viewers will never find themselves on a film or TV set, they make assumptions about what it is like to star in a major production. A perfect example of that, is most fans assume that starring in a reality show is incredibly easy.

From the outside looking in, it is easy to understand why being a reality star appears to be the easiest job in the entertainment industry. After all, reality stars simply lead their normal lives with a camera crew following them around, right?

Considering how easy it seems to be to make a reality show, it certainly seems like starring in Teen Mom 2 would be a lot easier than Down Home Fab.

As anyone who watches HGTV regularly will already know, many of the network's stars appear to spend long hours working on the show. Most notably, the people who headline home renovation shows often appear to work long hours to make their design plans a reality.

Of course, most people likely assume that home renovation stars get pampered when the cameras aren't rolling. In all likelihood, there is some truth to that. However, home renovation stars spend a lot of time on set if nothing else. No wonder, HGTV stars like Bryan And Sarah Baeumler get paid enough to become rich.

Despite what the realities of filming Down Home Fab and Teen Mom 2 appear to be, it seems like Chelsea Houska DeBoer prefers to star in the HGTV show. At least, it seems like that is the case based on what DeBoer has had to say about her experiences in the past.

When DeBoer announced she was leaving Teen Mom 2 behind, she professed how thankful she was for the experience on Instagram.

“MTV’s Teen Mom 2 has been a big part of my life for almost 11 years. After much thought and discussion with my family and friends, Cole and I have decided that this season will be our last.”

DeBoer continued, "We are forever thankful to MTV and our crew, who are like family to us. We’re parting on the best of terms and will stay in touch long after this. We’re proud to have been able to share our story and are so grateful to the fans who have followed our journey from the beginning."

However, DeBoer spoke to Entertainment Tonight in January 2023 and expressed how hard filming Teen Mom 2 could be on her. According to DeBoer, she felt like a "huge weight" had been lifted off her shoulders when she left Teen Mom 2.

As DeBoer explained during that interview, she spent hours feeling "guilty" when she was filming Teen Mom 2 because she worried she'd shared things about her kids that were "too personal".

During that same Entertainment Tonight interview, DeBoer spoke about how much better she felt when she was working on Down Home Fab. “I just feel proud.”

The same month as DeBoer's Entertainment Tonight interview, she took part in a Fan Q & A that was published on HGTV's website. When one of the fans asked DeBoer to compare her Teen Mom 2 and Down Home Fab experiences, she revealed how much she loves filming her HGTV show.

"Filming our new show with HGTV was night and day different. It was lots of work — long days. It wasn’t anything too heavy or personal, and that’s what I love about it. I mean, are you kidding me? I’m designing homes — it’s so much work and long hours, but so, so fun."

How Chelsea DeBoer's Fans Reacted To Down Home Fab?

In the years since Teen Mom became extremely popular, the franchise's stars have gone on to do a myriad of different things. Even though it is clear that Teen Mom stars can enjoy success in many different ways, Chelsea DeBoer going from Teen Mom 2 to being an HGTV star was unexpected.

After the news broke that DeBoer was going to star in Down Home Fab, the former Teen Mom 2 star was interviewed for HGTV's website. During the resulting conversation, DeBoer explained how she wound up starring in Down Home Fab.

As it turns out, DeBoer slid into the DMS of someone at HGTV and wrote the following message. “I feel like HGTV is missing out on some quality TV by not following our home building adventures 😂," she wrote back in 2020. "We’re ready to make the transition from mtv whenever you guys are lol!”

Once Down Home Fab finally made it on the air a couple of years after she sent that DM, HGTV obviously had high hopes for the series. Unfortunately for everyone involved, however, The U.S. Sun reported that Down Home Fab's initial ratings were low and many online fans hated the designs. As a result, many fans initially labeled Down Home Fab a flop.

Despite the way that many viewers reacted to Down Home Fab at first, HGTV made it clear that were happy with the show on at least one level. After all, HGTV announced they renewed Down Home Fab for a second season.
