In this day and age, it often seems like virtually everyone wants to become famous someday. As a result, it makes perfect sense that when a child actor becomes famous, millions of other youngsters look up to them and feel envious of their success.
In reality, however, the truth is that anyone who thinks about the repercussions of being a child star will realize that it likely isn't what it is cracked up to be. After all, there are far too many examples of former child stars who've grown up to have their lives hit the skids.
When Chloë Grace Moretz was still a child, she landed one of the lead roles in the hit movie Kick-Ass. After that film was released, Chloë became a star overnight because of how great she was as the movie's breakout character, Hit-Girl.
Like her famous character Hit-Girl, at times it has seen like Chloë has grown up too fast but she still seems well-adjusted. Since you have to credit Chloë's parents with seemingly bringing her up well, it is all the sadder to know that her family once went through something truly horrible.
What Is The Worst Thing To Happen To Chloë Grace Moretz's Family?
This is a trigger warning that this section of the article will touch on miscarriages and neonatal death in general terms.
From the moment that Chloë Grace Moretz launched her acting career as a child, there has always been something about her that stood out onscreen. Seemingly far more mature than anyone her age should be, Chloë seemed to carry herself with a shocking amount of emotional maturity.
While it is impossible to know what led to the way Chloë carried herself as a child, the fact that she comes from a family that has come through tragedy may just have something to do with that.
In 2012, Chloë was interviewed by one of the best former child stars of all time, Drew Barrymore. During the resulting conversation, Chloë revealed something truly tragic about her family background.
Partway through the interview, Barrymore asked Chloë, "If you had to get a tattoo today, what would it be?" Even though that may seem like a surface-level question, Chloë's answer revealed something stunning about her family.
"Well, I used to have a sister, but I never got to meet her because she died after two days, I think. So if I got a tattoo, it would probably have to be something to do with my sister. I actually want to get a tattoo when I’m older of something about her. So it would probably be that."
According to reports, Chloë's sister Kathleen Janette Moretz was born on February 1st 1988, and passed away on February 3rd of the same year. Considering that Chloë was born in February 1997, some observers may wonder why she feels affected by what happened to her sister.
What some people may not realize is how profoundly miscarriages and neonatal deaths devastate parents, siblings, and families as a whole. The reason for that is many people who've gone through that horrible pain are reluctant to talk about it since they feel misunderstood and they want to do their best to move on.
Hopefully someday people who go through that kind of pain will feel better understood by society. Maybe the fact that some stars have started to speak about that kind of loss is a harbinger of greater societal empathy.
How Many Siblings Does Chloë Grace Moretz Have?
On top of the fact that Chloë Grace Moretz clearly has been affected by her late sister, she also seems to be very close with her other siblings. Brought up in a family that Chloë has described as "very Christian", she grew up with four brothers.
Unsurprisingly, Chloë has said a lot about her brothers over the years and revealed some truly fascinating facts. Perhaps the most interesting fact about Chloë's relationship with her brothers is that one of them had a major role in her becoming an actor.
According to reports, Chloë's brother Trevor was accepted into New York City's Professional Performing Arts School. When Trevor was practicing for a role he was playing at school, Chloë read lines with him and developed her interest in acting from that experience.
On top of developing her passion for acting because of one of her brothers, it seems like Chloë learned to love everyone because of her siblings. As she grew up, Chloë watched two of her brothers who are part of the LGBTQ+ community struggle to come out and be bullied which taught her a lot.
As Chloë told Seventeen Magazine, “No one should care what your sexual orientation is, what color your skin is, or if you’re a man or a woman.”
