It only makes sense that Chris Rock is already making jokes about the Will Smith slap, stating that he just got his hearing back. The hilarious comedian is back on the road and in addition, his fanbase are trying to strip Will Smith of his 'Oscar' given what went down between the two.

Putting the 'Oscar' situation aside, we'll be taking a look back at a David Letterman interview from the past. Dave has had so many memorable encounters, however, this one is completely hilarious, showing Chris Rock taking shots at Dave for his marriage. Let's just say Letterman handled the jokes quite differently compared to Will...

What Happened Between Chris Rock And David Letterman?

Perhaps Will Smith didn't get the memo, Chris Rock really has no boundaries when it comes to making jokes. The same held true when he completely ripped David about his marriage on his own show.

Of course, things were very rocky for David Letterman at one point, after he was forced into admitting about his affairs. Letterman was blackmailed for a request of $2 million after a producer for CBS’s “48 Hours” – who was dating Stephanie Birkitt, one of the women he had been with.

Letterman took all the blame for the situation and he would reveal that he still hadn't forgiven himself for what had went down.

"I have no one to blame but myself," the 65-year-old comedian said on Sunday’s “Oprah’s Next Chapter.” “I think if you’re going to have a flow chart of the responsibility for this circumstance, this sex scandal, my name is at the top. I’m not sure what it means, but I’m taking responsibly for it, trying to atone for it.”

“No, I don’t have that luxury,” he said. “I can’t forgive that behavior.” And he adds that he’s been working “each and every day” to right his wrongs. “I’m still trying to fix it. It hasn’t gone away. It will never go away.”

Well, only the brave would poke fun at the situation and in truth, that's exactly what Chris Rock decided to do.

Chris Rock Poked Fun At David Letterman's Marriage

It started off as an innocent roast, with Chris Rock poking fun at David Letterman for his voice strain, "you sound like an old a** man," the comedian says.

However, soon enough, Rock took his humor even further, ripping Dave about his relationship, following the scandal. "Things going bad." Rock stated. "You're a rich man, you can just go home. Oh, the wife still mad ain't she," Rock stated with a huge smile on his face.

"Why am I going to drive back to Connecticut to a mean woman. I might as well just stay here and do the show with no voice."

As if things couldn't get worse for Dave, Rock would continue on. "I was backstage and you fired all the cute girls. Now you got a bunch of fat old guys back there. It's horrible, the vibe is just horrible." In classic Letterman style, he would make light of the joke saying, "I'll tell you one thing those guys are starting to look pretty good."

"Now enough about me and my misery," David would end off by saying.

It was a moment that the fans completely ate up, until this very day.

How Did The Fans React To The Moment?

Unlike Chris Rock's moment alongside Will Smith, fans totally ate this roast up. The audience was completely into it, while fans on YouTube also praised David Letterman for having a good sense of humor about the ordeal.

"Two masters in their profession. Dave could have reacted by acting insulted or changing the subject, but instead he took Chris' hilarious riff and spun it into gold."

"Some of those guys are starting to look pretty good". That's why Dave was and always will be the BEST."

"Low key Chris Rock did David Letterman a solid. It shows how much respect Chris has for David seeing him in a low energy state and running the convo. It’s gentleman’s game."

It was all positive as the clip has over 600K views. Without a doubt looking back, we can appreciate Letterman's reaction to the joke on his own show, especially given what we saw with Will Smith at the 'Oscars'. Although Dave has a polarizing legacy, he handled this moment perfectly - while Rock was also hilarious in his own right.
