Summary

  • Chrishell Stause and Nicole Young's feud began over allegations of stealing listings and insinuations about their mutual ex-boyfriend.
  • Despite ongoing tension, Stause and Young seem to have reached a truce after Young apologized to Stause during the season 7 reunion.
  • The feud escalated with Stause accusing Young of doing drugs, leading to a heated confrontation and a subsequent drug test by Young.

Chrishell Stause immediately clashed with Nicole Young when the latter joined Selling Sunset in season 6 after backing out in season 1 due to "cold feet." The Netflix newcomer said their issues had been "in the mix," before she even appeared on the show. On the other hand, Stause felt "blindsided" by her co-star's insinuations about their mutual ex-boyfriend and boss, Jason Oppenheim.

Following the exit of self-proclaimed villain, Christine Quinn after season 5, fans thought Stause would finally get a break from office feuds. But after season 7, even her former friend Amanza Smith "blocked" her on social media. Many assumed it was due to Smith's friendship with Young, which the latter said was "on another level." Here's where Stause and Young stand ahead of season 8.

Chrishell Stause And Nicole Young Still Seem To Be Feuding After Season 7

About a week after season 6 premiered in May 2023, Young told Tudum that she and Stause had "gotten to a point where we can just coexist." The longest-standing realtor of The Oppenheim Group also seemed to have forgiven the former soap opera actress. "I know it was just a malicious below-the-belt jab and nothing else," Young said of Stause's harsh remarks.

"[Stause] doesn't think that and no one else thinks that," she continued. In June 2023, the former also called a truce with the latter and told TMZ that they "haven't spoken" since season 6 ended.

"I think at a certain point...let's just drop it and literally move on," Young said of her feud with Stause.

Then in November 2023, Young revealed that she apologized to Stause during the season 7 reunion, but it was edited out despite being "an important piece to this whole puzzle moving forward." In her Instagram Story, she wrote: "Just wanted to jump on here really quick because there's something in the reunion that wasn't shown in the final edit."

Young added: "I don't know why. I don't understand. I have no explanation, but during the reunion taping, I definitely did apologize to Chrishell." Note that during the reunion, Stause confronted Young for thanking an Instagram commenter who said, "Get that lesbian chick off the show," referring to the former who doesn't identify as a lesbian and has been married to non-binary musician, G Flip since May 2023.

Young denied supporting the comment with her response. But Stause didn't believe the show's most unlikeable cast member, telling her: "I hate you, I own it. I don't care that it's not nice. I do hate you and I know you hate me." When asked if Young started beefing with Stause for "screen time," she said no and the lie detector test said she was telling the truth. Still, the latter clapped back, saying, "Then what were you doing?"

Chrishell Stause has a net worth of $5 million (mostly from non-real estate ventures) while Nicole Young has $3 million, mostly from her real estate sales amounting to more than $100 million.

Stause and Young's feud began with the latter complaining about the former getting credit for her listing despite not doing any work, four years ago. In season 6, the show's new addition suggested that Stause got away with "stealing" her listings because Oppenheim "had a massive crush" on her. For the record, both of them have dated the O Group's boss – Young in 2012 and Stause in 2023.

After season 7 – when Young claimed that the group left her out by not inviting her to the jet going to Cabo – Mary Fitzgerald blamed Oppenheim for the feud but held Young accountable for blowing it up. "In this situation, I've been very honest with her about that," Fitzgerald shared. "I'm like, 'I've tried to be a friend to you. I've tried to tell you, you are not doing yourself any favors. Here's the reality, here's what's going on. This is an old situation.'"

'It's Jason's fault for doing it. It's not Chrishell's fault,'" Fitzgerald told Young. 'You need to let it go. You need to drop it. It doesn't matter. You're not gonna go back to it. Focus on your current clients, focus on this. Leave Chrishell alone. Just stop.'

In season 7, the issue was reignited with Stause slapping her success on Young – who called the former's "bestie," Emma Hernan a "social climber" behind her back during a conversation with series alum, Davina Potratz. "I make more than you in five minutes than you could ever make in five years," Stause told Young. "You've rearranged your whole face. You got everything done."

Chrishell Stause and Emma Hernan were declared Ultimate Reality BFFs in Netflix's first-ever Superlatives Contest on May 29, 2024.

Chrishell Stause Accused Nicole Young Of Doing Drugs And Being "Cracked Out"

What ultimately fueled the tensions in season 6 was when Stause accused Young of doing drugs during a group trip to Palm Springs. Young tried to dismiss the argument during dinner, saying, "I'm going to move on." But the former Mrs. Justin Hartley casually retaliated, "I'm sure you would because you don't have a lot of points and you're on drugs," to which a shocked Young replied, "F--- you."

Stause added: "I don't know what is in your drink or what you're on but I'm just saying I'm good with not having this conversation because it doesn't seem like there is just wine in your glass. You've been acting a little cracked out all night."

Everyone else on the table was stunned. Young later recalled: "When she first said it, I felt like I'd just been hit by a train. I was so shocked. I was like a deer in headlights. It took me a moment to even process what she had said, and I was gutted. I was just absolutely gutted."

The morning after their heated conversation, Young took a drug test in Palm Springs to "prove [her] innocence and nip it in the bud" before it could affect her business reputation. "I wanted that to be my mic drop moment in a sense that, 'No, we're going to close a casket on this and move on,'" she added.

Nicole Young initially threatened to sue Chrishell Stause for defamation but decided not to.

It's no wonder Young was "nervous" about joining the show. "I really wanted to focus on real estate," she admitted. "I didn't know where the show was going to go, and frankly I just wasn't ready to expose my life to the world." But then she realized, "Real estate is dramatic, even without the cameras. This is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I'm just excited to embrace it."
