As for Conan O'Brien, he also banned a prominent Hollywood name. Though in fairness to Conan, the ban didn't last and the actor admits to spiraling at the time.

Conan didn't tell this story. Instead, it was the banned guest, Dax Shepard himself, who revealed the painful details as to what went on during their forgettable conversation.

Nowadays, Dax Shepard is making headlines for his Armchair Expert podcast. However, once upon a time, the actor struggled behind the scenes with his own demons related to addiction. One of his rock bottom moments took place alongside Conan O'Brien. Credit to the host, who didn't speak of the interview. As for Dax, he was open about the interview that got him banned from Conan O'Brien's late night talk show years ago. Shepard was completely out of it, and repeatedly missed out on Conan's cues to share some of his stories that were discussed during the pre-interview.

Shepard revealed, "I show up on the show, I don't know what he's talking about. I can tell he's queuing me up for stories I've told, but I don't know any of the stories. So, I'm just doing what I can to be funny out there and I am a mess."

Making matters worse, Shepard had woken up just 20-minutes prior to the interview after getting "blackout drunk."

Shepard was finally able to return once his got those demons in order. "It was fine for the audience. But for him, what a disaster. I didn't know any of the stories," he recalls.

"So I was banned from that show for some years, until I got sober and I got myself back on it and now I’ve been on it a bazillion times."

Fast-forward exactly two decades later and nowadays, Shepard made one heck of a comeback. Not only do fans love his podcast, but the actor is also so well-spoken during interviews. That was well evidenced during his recent chat just days ago alongside Seth Meyers. Fans loved the fact that the interview came across as a conversation between two friends. Dax also received high praise for his ageless appearance.

Kristen Bell, raising two kids and his candid podcast style were among the topics discussed during Dax's recent interview on The View. Although fans were impressed with the actor, the same didn't hold true for Joy Behar. The View host was repulsed by a certain detail Dax revealed about meeting Kristen Bell for the first time. “She was chewing gum. And I said, ‘Do you have another piece of gum?’ And she said, ‘I only have this.’ And then I took it and I put it in my mouth." Clearly, Behar wasn't impressed.

“That’s disgusting. Would you use her toothbrush too? That’s disgusting," Behar tells Shepard.

Dax Shepard is set to turn 50 in January.

On a lighter note, Shepard revealed he first met Bell at a mutual friend's party. Having just broken up with his ex-girlfriend, Shepard didn't make much of their interaction.

“I kind of missed Kristen,” he admitted. “The only thing I remember is that she had gotten a 20% coupon for Bed, Bath and Beyond that day in the mail and she was planning her whole next day around these savings. And I thought, ‘Well, this is very charming that a movie star is that pumped about 20% off of home furnishings at Bed, Bath and Beyond.’”
