Reality television shows have an unexplainable quality that makes them fun to watch. Reality television has been more successful today, with more shows undeniably exciting and fun to watch. The show produced several Grammy winners, an Emmy winner, and Academy Awards winner.

9 The Swan (2004-2005)
The Swan premiered on April 2004 and gained high ratings, and had an average of 9 million viewers during its first season. The show was about simple logic, an ugly duckling that turned into a beautiful swan. The show follows two self-proclaimed ugly ducklings who will undergo an extreme makeover for three months.
The show included a personal trainer, therapist, dentist, and cosmetic surgeons to aid the ugly duckling’s road to glamour. A series of critics panned the show because the show focused on promoting the negative body image of a woman.
8 Bridalplasty (2010 – 2011)
The show is about 12 brides-to-be who compete for plastic surgery. While some celebs deny plastic surgeries, these ladies try to get them through the show. As usual, brides, before they walk down the aisle, will opt for a trip to the salon or go out for a manicure and a blow-out, but these weren't easy ladies. They go for extreme measures; they would go for full-blown plastic surgery before the day of their matrimony.
As for the show's viewership, as performing surgical procedures was the prize for the contest, surgeons from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons prohibited the activity. But the series concluded after their final season on January 30, 2011.
7 Black. White. (2006)
The show premiered on March 2006, where they documented two families, one black and the other white. In the show, it appeared that the white family was not lawful. For the white family, JAG actor Bruno Marcotulli was the acting father, and casting director Carmen Wurgel was the mother. Disney Channel actress Rose Bloomfield's role as the daughter where she never met Bruno and Carmen before the production.
The show's premise was to give off a front appearance of portraying a practice or actions that isn't their own, and it serves as a social experiment. On the other hand, the black family was an actual family. The show only lasted for a month, and the show received mixed reactions.
6 The Moment Of Truth (2008 – 2009)
It is an American reality game show based on the Colombian format Nothing But The Truth. The game show's mechanics was to answer a series of 21 embarrassing and personal questions to the contestants, and each question corresponded to a certain amount of cash prize. The show once had a controversy in which a female contestant truthfully admitted what she had done to her employer, which stirred her reality. The production highly debated on the particular episode whether they were going to air it or not.
5 My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance (2004)
The show was not only offensive to the contestant and the show is extremely fatphobic. The show hired an actor and paid him to play Steve Williams for a gal to participate in a fake wedding. The show also offered money to the elementary school teacher Randi Coy and the rest of her family. On the wedding day, as Steve and Randi return their vows, the groom revealed that the wedding was a setup.
Steve’s family were also professional actors. Randi cried after Steve’s revelation. As Randi was unaware, they doubled the previous offer to Randi and her family.
4 Playing It Straight (2004)
On the show, one girl has to couple with one out of fifteen guys. Half of them were straight guys, and the other half were not. If the girl picked a straight guy, they would split the money and go on a dreamy date. Otherwise, if the guy(not straight) could convince the girl that they were sober, they would win all the money.
The production canceled the show for low ratings. The production also canceled the similar LGBT-related show Seriously, Dude, I’m Gay.
3 Boy Meets Boy (2003)
This reality dating show was similar to the previous list. This time, a non-straight guy named James Getzlaff and all-male contestants need to convince him that they are not straight. If James picked a non-straight guy, he would win a trip to New Zealand together with the non-straight guy he picked.
If James picked a straight guy, he would win nothing, and the straight guy would win $25,000. A total of six episodes aired weekly until the final episode on September 2003.
2 The Pickup Artist (2007 – 2008)
The Pickup Artist was an American dating-themed show hosted by Mystery and his wing man J-Dog. The show featured eight male contestants with no luck in love or relationship. They have trained in the art of pick-up lines as taught by the host and challenge the contestants to pick up women in different scenarios.
Controversies began to spread when they discovered that the contestant’s profiles were fake. Since then, the show was all long gone after its final airing.
1 Supersize Vs Superskinny (2008 -2014)
A bunch of fat and skinny people swap their diets on the show. At first, the motives of the series were pretty good as the show promotes a healthy lifestyle. The contestants were taken to a feeding clinic for five days and supervised by nutritionists and a Doctor. But it was incredibly harmful to the contestants, for they are bullied inside and outside the show.
