In 1992, David Bowie and the supermodel Iman walked down the aisle in a private ceremony and they remained together until the rock star’s demise. Several years after they tied the knot, Bowie and Iman welcomed their daughter Alexandria Jones into the world. Now in her early-20s, Bowie’s daughter principally seems to go by the name Lexi today, but it was Alexandria Zahra Jones.
In addition to being the daughter of the legendary performer David Bowie and the supermodel Iman, Lexi Jones is her own person. However, it is known that Jones has the ability to follow in her parent’s footsteps. For example, when Iman spoke to the publication Porter in 2018, she revealed that at one point there was a lot of interest in Lexi modeling. According to Iman, when Lexi turned 18-years-old, she posted a photo of her daughter on Instagram which resulted in a lot of attention from the modeling world. And every agency, every designer, called me to say: ‘If she wants to, we’d love for her to model for us.’” According to Iman, she quickly responded to the interest on behalf of her daughter. “I said: ‘No, she doesn’t.’”
Based on that anecdote alone, it is clear that Lexi Jones and her mom Iman have a close relationship considering how protective of her daughter the supermodel clearly is. For that reason, it is sad that it has been revealed that Lexi and Iman didn’t connect in person for 6 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thankfully, however, their close relationship has survived being physically separated like that.
In addition to having the genetics to model like her mom, Lexi Jones has a lot of skill in an art form her father David Bowie loved as well. Even though everyone knows David Bowie for his music, the legendary performer also had a passion for painting during his life and that is an interest he passed down to his daughter. David Bowie Had A Close-Knit Family
More than two decades before David Bowie married Iman, he walked down the aisle with another woman in 1970. During Bowie’s first marriage, his son Duncan was born in 1971. When the couple got divorced after roughly a decade of marriage, Bowie fought for and received custody of Duncan. As an adult, Duncan Jones has become a successful director of films like Moon, Source Code, and Warcraft.
When he wasn’t busy in Hollywood, Duncan Jones developed a close relationship with his father David Bowie. For proof of that, all anyone has to do is look at what Duncan posted on Twitter on what would have been Bowie’s 71st birthday. According to his Tweet, Duncan was able to tell Bowie he was going to be a grandfather a month before his passing. While Bowie sadly didn’t live long enough to be there when his grandchild was born, Duncan wrote about “how excited dad was to have a grandson”.
On top of Duncan Jones having a close relationship with his dad, he has posted about his relationship with his half-sister Lexi Jones several times. For example, on April 2nd of 2020, Duncan tweeted about the best thing about having a half-sister who is decades younger than him. “My favorite thing about having a half-sister is that I get to embarrass her by introducing myself to her cool friends as her “brother from another mother.””
Just like her big brother Duncan, Lexi Jones has used social media to pay tribute to her legendary father in the past. For example, in 2021, Lexi posted an amusingly awkward-looking photo of Bowie holding a balloon at a birthday party along with the caption “Rad dad”. More notably than that, Lexi posted a photo when she and her mom Iman commemorated the second anniversary of David Bowie’s passing by getting tribute tattoos to the legend. Thanks to the photo of the tattoo that Lexi posted on Instagram, it is known that she got a stylized crescent moon along with the words “Daddy xx 1947-2016”.
