Thanks to the popularity of shows like Survivor, The Real World, and Big Brother, TLC went from a dry network that focused on history to a channel that focused on “reality” shows. Thanks to that change in format, TLC has aired a slew of shows that focus on real people who are in extreme situations. For example, TLC’s My 600-lb Life has chronicled the lives of many people who were extremely overweight as they attempt to transform their bodies.

Since they love the show so much, fans of the show want to know how the stars of My 600-lb Life are doing today. Fortunately, some of My 600-lb Life stars have gone on to lead much better lives than they had before. On the other hand, some of the show’s former stars were far less happy with their experience. For example, season eight’s Gina Marie Krasley was so upset with her experience that she sued My 600-lb Life’s producers before she passed away. With that in mind, it begs an obvious question, did Krasley win her My 600-lb Life lawsuit before her death?

Did Gina Marie Krasley Win Her My 600-lb Life Lawsuit?

Since the first episode of My 600-lb Life premiered on TLC in 2012, viewers were introduced to a woman named Melissa Morris who was 653 pounds at the time. Thanks in large part to the medical aid that TLC provided to her, Morris ultimately lost almost 450 pounds. Of course, just because TLC’s My 600-lb Life helped Morris turn her life around doesn’t mean the show had a positive impact on everyone else who appeared on the show.

In early-2020, an eighth season episode of My 600-lb Life aired that focused on a woman named Gina Marie Krasley. According to Wikipedia, Krasley weighed 606.7 pounds when she began to get treatment. Unlike some people who’ve appeared on the show and lost a lot of weight, Krasley was only able to shave off 50.5 pounds. While that is undeniably significant, it didn’t get Krasley close to her target weight.

Clearly upset with her My 600-lb Life experience, Gina Marie Krasley decided to sue the show’s producers in early 2020. Not alone, Krasley filed her lawsuit alongside Jeanne Covey and Maja Radanovic from season 7 and the trio was seeking $1 million. According to her lawsuit, Krasley was seeking compensation because producers took advantage of her and were negligent. The reason she alleged they were negligent is producers know that extreme diets make people “much more” prone to depression and suicide yet they didn’t provide adequate mental health services. Krasley also alleged that in order to support the show’s narrative, producers “required” her to consume “excessive amounts of food" on camera.

Since Gina Marie Krasley filed her lawsuit in early-2020 and it wasn’t until late-2021 that she passed away, it certainly was possible that she could have won or lost before her death. However, lawsuits often take a long time and thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, things were being dragged out even more during that time. With that in mind, it makes sense that Krasley’s lawsuit was still ongoing when she passed away. In fact, as of the time of this writing, there is no indication that the lawsuit has ended.

Other My 600-Lb Life Stars Have Sued As Well

Since the entertainment business tends to bring in loads of money, it isn’t surprising that lots of stars and productions have been sued over the years. Still, it is pretty amazing to learn that on top of Gina Marie Krasley and the two other people she filed her lawsuit with, several other My 600-lb Life stars have sued the show’s producers.

After James "LB" Bonner appeared in an episode of My 600-lb Life, he lost an incredible amount of weight. Of course, just because Bonner transformed his body doesn’t mean that he was in a better place and tragically, he wound up passing away by his own hand. According to Bonner’s family, My 600-lb Life producers were partially responsible since they refused to pay medical bills they promised to which had a hand in LB’s depression. Additionally, when Bonner reached out to one of the show’s employees to say he was in a dark place, the only response he got was “fake it till you make it”. As a result, Bonner’s family sued the show’s producers.

Similarly, after David Bolton appeared on My 600-lb Life, he transformed his body but he was upset with the show’s producers for the same reasons. As a result, Bolton filed a lawsuit claiming the show refused to pay medical bills they agreed to take care of and they didn’t provide him with mental health support. Amazingly enough, Nicole Lewis, Annjeanette Whaley, Destinee Lashaee, and Alicia Kirgan have all also sued My 600-lb Life producers for remarkably similar reasons.
