“Kravis” is one of the most talked-about relationships of the year. Reality star Kourtney Kardashian and Blink-182 rocker Travis Barker had been dating for nearly a year when they got engaged in 2021.
Travis proposed to Kourtney on the beach at the Rosewood Miramar in Santa Barbara California, getting down on one knee in the center of a romantic beach display bordered with red roses.
“I feel like I’m living in a fairy tale,” Kourtney said on the family’s new reality TV series The Kardashians. “I couldn’t have dreamed of anything more perfect. I’ve never in my whole life dreamt of getting married until Travis, and until this relationship.”
The couple tied the knot a total of three times, but before they arrived at their happily ever after, they faced a slight hurdle: Kourtney accidentally broke her engagement ring. Read on to find out how!
When Did Kourtney Get Engaged?
At the time they got engaged, the couple had been dating for nearly a year, with their relationship confirmed for the press in January 2021. A source told People that they had been friends for a long time, but their bond had recently turned romantic.
Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker got engaged on October 16, 2021. While the proposal was a complete surprise for Kourtney, Travis had already told her family that he was planning on popping the question.
In the second episode of The Kardashians, Kris calls Travis while she’s in the car with Khloe, who tells them both that he plans on asking Kourtney to marry him.
A source told People that the Kardashian family often stay at the Rosewood, which is their favorite hotel for short weekend getaways: "This is why Travis proposed there. It's a very special place to them, but it was also easier to keep everything a secret by proposing there."
The ring was an oval-shaped design by Lorraine Schwartz, who revealed to People that Travis actually helped to design it. “I worked on it with Travis and he was a really big part of it," the designer explained. "He was really hands-on in the whole making of it. It's gorgeous and they're happy."
Kourtney was clearly in love with the ring, posting about it on social media. Fans were in shock when she revealed that she accidentally broke it soon after their engagement.
How Did Kourtney Kardashian Break Her Engagement Ring?
In the fifth episode of The Kardashians, Kourtney told her mom Kris Jenner that she had accidentally broken her ring while doing some household chores.
“I was sitting on my floor folding sweatshirts and I took the ring off, and I put it next to me on the floor, like, thinking it would be safe right next to me,” she explained. “So then I had to get something up above in my closet and when I stepped down, I stepped on the ring.”
“I was, like, hysterically crying in my closet for like hours,” she told her mom, covering the ring with her hand to avoid showing it to the camera. “I’m covering it because it’s actually getting fixed.”
Immediately, Kourtney rang Travis, and even though she was having a “nervous breakdown” about the broken ring, he handled it in “the best way possible.”
“I was just like, ‘This is the most beautiful thing that I’ve ever had in my life, and how could I have done that'?” she said.
Was The Ring Fixed By The Time Kourtney Married Travis?
Sources report that the broken ring was fixed by the time that Kourtney married Travis. The couple first reportedly exchanged vows at a Las Vegas chapel hours after the 2022 Grammy Awards, where Travis performed, in April 2022.
Us Weekly reports that the couple then got married in a more official capacity on May 15 at a courthouse in Santa Barbara, California. They were seen in wedding attire, with Kourtney wearing a white mini dress and veil while Travis wore a black suit. They left the courthouse in a convertible that had a ‘Just Married’ sign.
Kris Jenner’s mother, Mary Jo “MJ” Campbell, and Travis’s dad, Randy Barker, served as witnesses to the nuptials.
They then got married for a third time, arriving in Portofino, Italy, on May 20 for a huge celebration. This time, the couple had their children in attendance.
Along with Kourtney’s kids, Mason, Penelope, and Reign, whom she shares with ex Scott Disick, and Travis’s kids Landon, Alabama, and step-daughter Atiana, whom he shares with ex-wife Shanna Moakler, members of Kourtney’s family were there.
Fans spotted Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, and Corey Gamble at the ceremony.
