The process that goes into creating a Disney Princess is not as easy as they make it look. By the time we are treated to the latest Disney Princess film, the character has already gone through a very long and detailed process of creation.
After the writers complete the script, and the character's emotions and personality emerge, the animators can begin working together to come up with a design that turns into a hit. The finishing product ends up being perfected over the creation process and by the time the film is released, the result is a perfectly created animated character that fits the Disney film just right.
But we decided to take a look at those Disney Princesses and reimagine them as modern day teenagers instead of fairy tale characters.
Note: Disney only has 12 Princesses so we added eight of their most popular female characters who are just as important.
20 Esmeralda (The Hunchback Of Notre Dame)
Esmeralda is the definition of a modern day free spirit. She has a big heart and always tries to do the right thing when she sees people in trouble. She helped Quasimodo because no one else would and ended up changing his life forever.
A reimagined version of Esmeralda would remind us of that girl in class who doesn't run with any cliques yet is cool with everyone in the school, just not the bullies. She is laid back but stern when she has to be and will always take down a bully.
19 Pocahontas (Pocahontas)
Of all the Disney Princesses, Pocahontas has the greatest introduction of them all. In the film, Pocahontas, when we finally see her, she is standing on top a waterfall, enjoying the beautiful weather and colors of the world around her. She then takes a head first dive off the falls into the water below.
It gives us a chance to see just how adventurous and in control she is as a person. She is also a free spirit but with a bit more maturity, even as a teenager.
18 Kida (Atlantis: The Lost Empire)
As strong and wise as Kida comes across in the film Atlantis: The Lost Empire, she actually turns out to be unable to read and even struggles understanding her past.
She is a warrior princess that used to destroy outsiders at first sight. Kida's personality makes her an easy choice for a school's most popular girl. She seems like an easy person to talk to but will quickly change your mind once she shows her true colors.
17 Eilonwy (The Black Cauldron)
In every school, there is that one girl that is a giant mystery. She is hard to get because no one ever approaches her either from fear of being rejected or not knowing enough about her to convince her to go on a date.
Eilonwy would be a strong-willed, but quiet teenager that only brings out her talkative side when she feels she can trust someone. That is when her true character shines brightest.
16 Tiana (The Princess & The Frog)
For being such a kind-hearted young woman, Tiana is not a person to be messed with. She creates a list of goals for herself and does just about anything she has to in order to achieve them. Her ability to work hard and her high level of intelligence reminds us of a Disney version of Glee's Rachel Berry.
That's right, she is going to be annoying and might not have many friends but she will get the best grades and probably end up as the school's valedictorian.
15 Jane Porter (Tarzan)
As an artist, Jane Porter is very smart and loves to work with animals. She is Disney's version of a sexy librarian. If we were to reimagine her as a modern day teenager, she would easily be the quiet girl that sits towards the back of the classroom.
She spends most of her day drawing animals in her notebook because she is so smart that she cannot focus on the current class she is sitting in. She needs a challenge in order to occupy her mind or she will end up drifting away.
14 Merida (Brave)
Merida is one of the Disney Princesses that does not does not fit into the regular mold. She is courageous and brave, but also rebellious and knows what she wants to do. She does not answer to anyone and loves the outdoors.
As a modern day teenager, Merida would be the girl that hangs out with all the boys but never dates them. She is going to get along better with guys than girls.
13 Anna (Frozen)
In Frozen, Anna shows us her entire personality. She is never afraid to be herself, which is goofy and somewhat clumsy. She lacks the world experience needed to become a Queen but she is not willing to learn.
She is fearless and trusts others with a sense of childlike innocence because of her lack of life lessons. She would be the teenager at your school who seems ditzy but is very much one of the smartest in the school.
12 Mulan (Mulan)
Do not mess with Mulan. She is very independent and strong-willed. She always works hard to be the best and would be the captain of both the volleyball and basketball team.
She is not going to be the most likable student in school but she does not really care either. She would rather stay true to herself than worry about how teenagers perceive her.
11 Megara (Hercules)
There is a word we could use to describe Megara but would prefer not to say it. Let's just say she is very sarcastic and loves to make snarky comments about everyone else around her.
Her ability to talk trash about everyone would turn her into a drama queen that is not the most popular in school. but the ears to everyone's story. She is the girl you do not share secrets with cause they will get posted on social media as soon as she hears about them.
