Arnold Schwarzenegger's personal life was in the spotlight for a large part of his career in Hollywood. Though he rose to fame as the Terminator, he later made headlines for stepping out on his then-wife and fathering a child with the family's housekeeper. But that didn't stop Arnold from becoming the governor of California, or from remaining a beloved celebrity personality.
In fact, despite his wrongdoings, Arnold seems to have made amends with his children and even his ex-wife. But not everyone is thrilled with how things went down once Arnold's 'illicit' child grew up.
Schwarzenegger Bonds With Joseph Baena Over Shared Passions
For Arnold's part, he apparently offered financial support to Mildred Baena and his son ever since he first knew that the child was his. He has bought them a home, paid for Joseph's schooling, and more.
And in adulthood, Joseph and his dad seem to have bonded over bodybuilding and other hobbies. Arnold has posted photos of Joseph on his Instagram, though Joseph's social media appears to have been scrubbed despite once featuring his dad.
Arnold does appear to be close with all of his children, and often gives shoutouts to them, praising his kids for what they've done with their lives. Yet it's unlikely that all five of Arnold's kids hang out together.
And, they don't seem to have ever been photographed together.
Do All The Schwarzenegger Siblings Get Along?
Commenters originally flocked to Reddit to slam Chris Pratt for his cringe "appreciation" post for his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger. But they detoured off-topic when Joseph Baena came up.
Fans of Arnold might recall that news of his illegitimate child went public when Maria moved out of the family mansion in 2011 and the pair's divorce filing made the rounds. At the time, Joseph was already a teenager, but Arnold admitted that he knew Joseph was his son since he was around seven or eight years old.
Surprisingly, even Arnold's former wife was compassionate toward Joseph and his mother, Mildred. Yet, as Reddit highlighted, Arnold and Maria's children don't seem to have embraced their youngest brother.
Arnold and Maria share four children; Katherine, Patrick, Christopher, and Christina. The youngest Shriver-Schwarzenegger child was born a few days before Joseph Baena.
Though the children grew up in proximity to one another, even if they didn't know they were related, as adults, they seem to have made clear decisions about their relationship.
One commenter openly dissed Katherine, saying "she treats her half brother horribly," even though she has forgiven her father for his indiscretions. That commenter noted that Joseph used to comment on Katherine's Instagram and that she "never liked or responded to it."
Others agreed, calling Katherine a hypocrite for not acknowledging Joseph while praising her father for being a great person and even writing a book on forgiveness.
Is Katherine Actively Ignoring Joseph Baena?
Speculation over the Schwarzenegger siblings' relationship with Joseph Baena doesn't end at a few Reddit comments. In fact, Katherine actually replied to an Instagram commenter who trolled her for not sharing a shoutout for Joseph on National Siblings Day one year.
Her response didn't clear anything up for followers, though, and in fact, made some even more upset.
Katherine wrote to the critic, "Saw in your profile it says ‘god always’. Just wanted to remind you of Gods presence in all of our lives and even in yours as you come spreading hurtful words and judgment."
What's more, sources have suggested that Katherine purposely did not invite Joseph to her wedding to Chris Pratt because she thought he would upstage her. There was no reliable source for that claim, however.
Fox News also reiterated rumors that the Schwarzenegger boys are closer to Joseph than the girls, saying Christina and Katherine have "really no relationship" with Baena.
Of course, those rumors may be untrue. Yet the other Schwarzenegger siblings' lack of commentary on the subject seems to hint that they would rather ignore questions about their half-brother than share anything publicly.
For Arnold's part, it seems unlikely that he would sit around while his children fight among themselves, especially as he seems to have solid relationships with each of them. Hopefully, the dad of five helps unite the kids, since any rift between them would, more or less, be his doing anyway.
