Fans of the Teen Mom franchise have borne witness to the screaming, fighting, and even physicality that has occurred between Farrah Abraham and her mother, Debra Danielsen. The toxic mother-daughter duo started off their reality TV career on 16 and Pregnant and continued to shock and dismay viewers with their behavior with one another until Abraham was fired from the franchise after her foray into adult entertainment.
Despite all of this drama that the two bring to one another's lives, they continued to stay in contact over the years. Neither one cut the tether to the other, despite how harsh the comments were or how disturbing the fighting became. Because of this, in conjunction with actions that have been posted to social media over the years, fans are rightfully confused about Abraham and Danielson's relationship. So much so, that there are questions about whether the relationship is just incredibly dysfunctional or if perhaps, the feuding was just hype for ratings on Teen Mom.
Here is why fans wonder whether the feud between Teen Mom Farrah Abraham and her mom was all a lie.
Farrah Abraham Was Maid Of Honor At Her Mom's Wedding
With all the reported drama Abraham and Danielsen had over the years, fans of the Teen Mom franchise scratched their heads when they learned that not only had Abraham attended her mother's wedding, but she was the Maid of Honor.
If there was such turmoil between the two, how had they reached the point of resolution?
"See one big happy family!!!!" one person tweeted. Another fan tweeted, "It will never excuse her past behavior." "Good for her," yet another tweeted.
This occurred after rumors swirled that Abraham would not be attending Danielson's wedding. And the speech that Abraham gave at the reception led to further confusion about the true status of the mother-daughter relationship.
"It's been an up and down year for me," Abraham explained. "I'm very protective of my mom and I love her so much and I'm happy to see, David, that you love my mom just as much. You're strong, and that's what she needs."
The speech ended with, "I love you both."
Does this mean that the relationship and the way Abraham and Danielsen have treated one another over the years was just for show? At this point in time, it appeared that this was the case, or an olive branch had been extended to put past issues behind the two.
Do Farrah And Her Mom Get Along Now?
In January 2021, it was reported that the relationship between Abraham and Danielsen was far better now that the Teen Mom franchise was not involved. In fact, Abraham went as far as to accuse MTV of "deliberately trying to drive a wedge" between the two.
The claim leads to further questions about whether the feuding that took place over the years was real or a hoax.
It is not unheard of for a reality show to upsell the drama that occurs on the show in order to get ratings and move a storyline along.
But if this is what MTV was doing, why did Abraham and Danielsen go along with it for so many years? Was it just to remain relevant on the hit reality show? Was it to continue to receive a lucrative paycheck? If that is the case, then they had fans fooled over the years.
After being fired from Teen Mom, there was nothing but pictures on Instagram of Abraham and her daughter, Sophia, being around Danielson. They were all smiles and looked to be a happy family.
Abraham said that "her mom is very loving and supportive of her even though she believes that [Abraham] works too hard."
These are not words or actions from a family that is feuding. And this just adds fuel to the fire that issues were never as big as they truly appeared on the small screen.
What Farrah Abraham And Debra Danielsen Have Been Feuding Over
The million-dollar question is what Abraham and Danielsen have been feuding over. Looking back over the years, there have been many knock-down drag-out fights and things that the two have done to one another to choose a reason for a troubled mother-daughter relationship.
But in most recent days, the apparent feuding has revolved around an incident that occurred in May 2021 that neither Abraham nor Danielsen have gone into detail about. But it has left the two estranged since.
"Any time you love people, you never want to let them go," Danielsen explained. "You always want to make things good for them. But, Farrah grew up, she turned 30, and at some point in life you make choices…"
Danielsen went on to explain, "I had to make a choice that I need to be treated with some common courtesy. And I need to be treated with some respect. And if that’s not happening, that means I don’t respect my own self. So I had to call a time out [with Farrah]."
Abraham never discussed why she and her mother had a falling out. She only posted a cryptic Instagram caption that read, "A sense of failure is not something to engage with. Just observe and let it pass."
Given the two have been willing to speak bluntly and in great detail about issues they have had with one another in the past, this may be the first real feud that the two have experienced. And if that is the case, the joke may be on Teen Mom viewers after all these years if there was never truly a broken relationship at all.
