Gossip about celebrities always runs rampant, but often, they have some root in a fact of some sort. Other times, the rumors come out of nowhere and make absolutely zero sense. Even so, celebrities can start trending for no reason, simply because people are speculating about them.

That seems to be the case with Lucy Hale, who has been the subject of many online searches about whether she has children. In fact, just googling Lucy brings up whether she has kids, who her baby daddy might be, and more. It turns out there is a simple explanation as to why speculation started up, despite Lucy Hale not ever sharing pregnancy or baby news.

Why People Think Lucy Hale Had A Baby

The reason why people think Lucy Hale has a child can be chalked up to misunderstandings, but the type of misunderstandings that a simple online search doesn't always uncover.

That is to say, Lucy's name has been attached to the terms "baby" often enough that it caught people's attention. The search engines seem to want to support people searching for that information, which only built up more false answers to the question.

And ever since PLL ended (and probably during the show, too), fans have wanted to know what Lucy is up to and when she might start a family, if she even plans to. The combination of search queries and seemingly fitting mentions of Lucy created a perfect storm of online confusion.

For example, Lucy posted on Instagram about her new dog at one point, captioning the image "Everyone say hello to my new baby Elvis. I'm so in love it hurts."

Clearly, she wasn't talking about a human baby. But this wasn't the only time someone used the right language that got the bots thinking she had a baby.

In another post, Lucy's co-star Ashley Benson poked fun at her "food baby" by posting "trimester" pics with her co-star Tyler Blackburn. Though that took place back in 2015, online publications have chewed it over enough times that Lucy's name is attached to the whole thing (she's nowhere to be found in the images).

Apart from the internet just being confused about Lucy's personal life because of when and how her name is brought up, there might be another reason why people speculate about her having kids; in an interview, she talked about her sister having children; that string of key terms has also popped up as an 'answer' to whether Lucy has kids.

In fact, that publication's answers to questions about Lucy include off-topic answers multiple times over, suggesting that whatever aggregator they use to answer questions might not know what it's talking about.

Then again, there isn't much information to go on, so it makes sense that everyone is trying to fill in the blanks.

Lucy Hale Lives A Very Private Life

Despite fans becoming frenzied over her thanks to Pretty Little Liars, Lucy Hale has largely lived a private life. She made her money from PLL and other shows and continues working without making waves.

It even sounds like she isn't super close with her former co-stars, even though the rest of the PLL cast still keeps in touch.

Though fans have heard about her various relationships over the years, there weren't public statements about those relationships, nor were there comments from either Lucy or her exes.

Even Lucy's publicist reportedly does not comment on her personal life, leaving fans (and the internet) to scrounge around for any details or hints they might be able to find.

That said, sometimes there are more than just hints; if "insider sources" can be trusted, might there be more to the rumors?

Though it doesn't sound like Lucy Hale has a baby just yet, a new rumor has emerged to stoke the flames of gossip a bit more.

On February 23rd, 2023, online publication MediaMass reported that "American tabloids" were claiming Lucy was pregnant. The evidence that "a source close to" Lucy and her partner (who they never name) saw a baby bump and that Lucy made multiple toasts with water instead of wine.

The same publication posted an update to the article two days later to say the rumor appears false, which isn't surprising given that in multiple articles, Lucy Hale's apparent current boyfriend is never named.

At this point, it's unclear who Lucy might be dating, as her last named ex in most publications is Skeet Ulrich (though it's been suggested that might have been a publicity scheme). Similar to the baby question, finding a true answer requires a deep dive into search results and Lucy's reported (if not confirmed) past relationships.

Given that her publicist declined to comment on either pregnancy or any other matter, fans can only guess what might be going on with their favorite actress. And the answer could be, nothing.
