Over its two-decade existence on air, The Ellen DeGeneres Show has seen its fair share of awkward and embarrassing moments for various guests. Some of those probably still regret their interviews on the show.

One such celebrity is The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons, who was reportedly unimpressed with his first ever interview on Ellen. He explained in a different conversation that he didn't feel as 'liked' on the show as he thought he would be.

At the same time, Ellen herself has had to deal with guests who made her uneasy or were just outright unruly. Here are eight celebrities she likely won't be looking forward to inviting back on the show.

8 Leah Remini Slapped Ellen

Like many other guests on Ellen, King of Queens actress Leah Remini had been the subject of many pranks by the comedian. When she visited the show again in October 2021, she was very wary of being scared again.

She also went into a long story about scaring her own daughter during Halloween, but interrupted herself by awkwardly claiming that Ellen was only 'acting interested in her story.'

She followed this with a proper slap on the host's wrist, which actually appeared rather painful.

7 Ricky Gervais Beat Ellen In Her '5-Second Rule' Game

British comedian Ricky Gervais played the 5-Second Rule game on Ellen's show when he visited back in September 2015. He totally destroyed her, although she argued that he was cheating throughout.

Four months later, he returned again and Ellen demanded a rematch. Sadly for her, the outcome was no different, as Gervais once again used some cunning methods to ensure he wiped the floor with her.

6 Kanye West Went On A Bizarre Rant

Kanye West is one of the most eccentric celebrities in Hollywood. From the time he accosted Taylor Swift as she accepted an award at the 2009 VMAs, to his bizarre claims about slavery being a choice, the musician is never too far away from controversy.

During a 2018 appearance on Ellen, Kanye went on one of such tangents, as he started to rant about a wide array of topics. Ellen and her audience were left sitting in bewildered silence for most of the eight-minute tirade, a huge part of which was cut out of the eventual broadcast.

5 Megyn Kelly Disagreed With Ellen On Hosting Trump

In 2016, Megyn Kelly found herself more at the center of news than she would have wanted. With Donald Trump ramping up his efforts to win the presidential race, the news anchor became one of the targets of his offensive Twitter rants.

The following year, with Trump finally in the White House, Kelly appeared on Ellen where the two strongly disagreed on whether they would host him on their respective shows. Kelly was still surprisingly open to welcoming Trump, but Ellen was adamant that she would never do it.

4 Wendy Williams Claimed She Was Poorly Treated On 'Ellen'

Wendy Williams is a direct competitor of Ellen with her own day time talk show, The Wendy Williams Show. Still, the two managed to appear friendly enough when she was a guest on Ellen in 2016.

In the aftermath of the interview, however, Wendy claimed that she had not been treated well. She doubled down on the attack when rumors started to intensify about poor working conditions on Ellen's show. Suffice to say she will not be one of the guests who graces the final episodes of Ellen as the series runs its final lap this year.

3 Hassan Minhaj Berated Ellen For Wrongly Pronouncing His Name

Hassan Minhaj was barely minutes into his interview on Ellen when he stopped her dead in her tracks to correct her pronunciation of his name. As most people do, Ellen had failed to emphasize the 'h' in Minhaj's surname, something that the stand-up comedian took issue with.

With his parents present in the audience, Minhaj saw that as a teachable moment, which he used to publicly admonish his host and also teach everyone the correct way to say his name.

2 Caitlyn Jenner Strangely Disagreed With Ellen On Same-Sex Marriage

If there ever was one person who would probably understand the challenges of struggling with one's gender and sexual orientation, you would think it would be Caitlyn Jenner. The former Olympian is one of the most famous trans people in the world, but she remains to be a thoroughly conservative person.

This side of her reared its head when she visited Ellen in 2015, and didn't seem to be all on board with the idea of same-sex marriage. Ellen was gracious enough to listen to what the reality TV star had to say, but she wouldn't have appreciated her indisposition.

1 Nicole Kidman's Awkward Cooking Session With Giada De Laurentiis

In May 2017, Nicole Kidman joined Ellen and Giada De Laurentiis as the celebrity chef demonstrated how to execute some of her recipes. Instead of having a constructive session, though, Kidman spent most of the time distracted, while Ellen gave up halfway and started eating food that had already been pre-cooked.

By the end, De Laurentiis looked so exasperated as she wondered, "Why do I even bother?"
