With Eminem’s tough reputation, there’s been speculation over how the rapper feels about his daughter’s partner. The pair have been together since college, but Eminem has rarely commented on the couple. Now that they’re engaged, many people are wondering whether Eminem gave his blessing. Eminem’s Daughter Is Engaged To A Non-Celebrity
Earlier this month, Hailie announced to her 3 million followers that her boyfriend, Evan McClintock, had popped the question. “Casual weekend recap…” she captioned a series of images from the engagement, which showed the couple popping a bottle of champagne. “i love you @evanmcclintock11,” she added.
Hailie received tons of congratulations in the comments, though there was nothing posted from her father’s official Instagram account.
In fact, some of the comments speculated over whether Evan had asked Eminem’s permission to propose beforehand.
“Imagine having to ask Em to marry his daughter,” one comment read. Another referenced Eminem’s 2002 “Lose Yourself,” writing, “I wonder if knees were weak, and his arms were heavy.
One thing that’s for sure is that Hailie and Evan aren’t rushing into marriage. They’ve been together for nearly seven years after meeting at Michigan State University in 2016. She was studying psychology, while he was pursuing a degree in economics.
Eminem Is “Proud” Of The Life Hailie Has Built
Eminem hasn’t publicly reacted to Hailie’s engagement, but that’s not necessarily a bad sign. He seldom speaks about his daughter, but when he has, he’s made positive references to her boyfriend.
In 2020, he gave a brief update on his daughter during an appearance on Mike Tyson's YouTube show Hotboxin, and even made a brief reference to her boyfriend. "No babies, she has a boyfriend, but she's doing good," Eminem said. "She's made me proud for sure. She's graduated from college."
"When I think about my accomplishments, that's probably the thing I'm the most proud of is being able to raise kids," he added. "It's important to keep your kids grounded when they're in a situation like I have, it's very important. People also think, too, that money just buys happiness—that absolutely is not the truth. You've got to be right inside otherwise none of this s--t means nothing."
Moreover, sources have said that Hailie’s family was accepting of her boyfriend from the start.

It appears Eminem approves of Hailie’s now-fiancé, based on his previous comments. But don’t expect the rapper to speak publicly about his daughter’s personal life anytime soon.
There was once a time when Eminem frequently reference his daughter Hailie in his music. But as she grew older, the mentions became sparser. Nowadays, Eminem is known for keeping his relationship with his daughter private.
Despite having a large social media following, Hailie also rarely speaks about her famous father. But she did describe them as “very close” during her first public interview with Daily Mail in 2018.
It appears Eminem and Hailie are close, even if they keep their relationship out of the private eye. Considering how long she’s been with Evan and how close she is with her dad, it’s hard to imagine Eminem didn’t approve of their relationship prior to the engagement.
That doesn’t mean that Hailie’s boyfriend directly asked the rapper for his blessing (that would be intimidating). But it’s unlikely Eminem will have anything negative to say about their union.
