While talking about Madame Web and the harsh criticism levied against it, Emma Roberts surprised people. She explained she was upset about the results, as she thinks the movie could have done much better had it not been for the internet.

She still believes that it was a good movie no matter what people say, and wishes the world had given it a fair chance.

I personally really loved Madame Web. I really enjoyed the movie. I thought everyone in it was great,” she opened up.

Emma Roberts believes that people online prejudged the movie and set it up to fail.

If it wasn’t for internet culture and everything being made into a joke, I think that the reception would’ve been different,” she complained. “And that’s what bums me out about a lot of stuff, even stuff that I’ve done, is people just make such a joke out of everything now.”

However, despite this disappointment, she understands that this is how things work in show business and will get over it.

“Things work; things don’t work. Everyone likes to act like they can predict if they’re going to work or they’re not. And the truth is, you can’t. Things do badly, and then they blow up later on TikTok,” she shrugged.

While Emma Roberts might not agree with the reviews Madame Web received, it seems a lot of her co-stars understand why things went so wrong for the movie, even if they enjoyed working on it.

"I had never done anything like it before. I probably will never do anything like it again, because I don’t make sense in that world," Dakota Johnson said about making superhero movies after Madame Web.

"Sometimes in this industry, you sign on to something, and it’s one thing and then as you’re making it, it becomes a completely different thing, and you’re like, ‘Wait, what?’ But it was a real learning experience."

About the harsh criticism, she said, "Of course it’s not nice to be a part of something that’s ripped to shreds, but I can’t say that I don’t understand."

Sydney Sweeney, for her part, admitted to accepting a role in the movie as a career move and not because she particularly liked it.

"To me, that film was a building block, it’s what allowed me to build a relationship with Sony, she said candidly. “Without doing Madame Web I wouldn’t have a relationship with the decision-makers over there. Everything in my career I do not just for that story, but strategic business decisions."
